wen Posted July 21, 2019 Share Posted July 21, 2019 a mix of vintage and new, my Rega Planar2 1976 (modified), moth 202 arm, Ortofon Quintet cartridge, NAD PP2e v , Rega Planar3 1983( standard), Grace G707 arm , Ortofon MC20 II cartridge, ifiiphono2, initial impression was the Rega 3 iphono2, was close to the Rega 2 NAD, the MC 20 II was showing its age, less extended in the top end, bass not as deep, soundstage restricted, and not great depth to recordings, but the ifi iphono II was letting the Mc20II show it's full potential. Moving the ifi iphono II into the NAD's place was a OMG moment, WOW, the depth and width of soundstage just filled the room, top end more extended and airy, bass almost blew you out of the room, powerful but controlled, midrange very detailed and natural. Ihave used the ifi iphono before with my Ortofon 2M Bronze and it sounded good, but this is many, many levels up.
