Musical Fidelity X-A2 Amp

Recommended Posts

This is one cool looking amp.

Not sure about the sound as i don’t have a power supply.

Yet.

I contacted MF local distributor and they gave me the info on the transformer used it was a 35VAC

I was curious about the internals

not the best caps. Teapo Capacitors

hardly any parts (doesn’t mean it won’t sound good)

will update post when i get the power supply made up.

They’re a lovely little amp ... owned xa2. Prior and xa1 now. Pity no owner supply on yours. They’re s hefty well made thing. I’ll check see if I have any picks on xa2 power supply ... I don’t think same as on xa1 :)

testament to these things they still sound fine couple of decades on :)

Xa-1 is the best sounding of the lot. XA-2 isnt bad either. The XA-100 was lacking compared to the other two IMO. Used to demo and sell them:afro:

yep i sold off my xa2, and then trying to get one back ended up with the original X-A1. though never compared the both, they do sound fantastic glad to hear you experience with both.

I also have the little XA50 mono blocs and a xp-100 pre amp (SS version of the nuvista) now religated from my bedroom system ... sitting idle but will get fired up again some day... they really were great little things :)

@misternavi if looking for an ideal source match the original mf x-ray is a beaut ! 👍

Let's wait till I try the X-a2 first.  (I have been searching eBay for these and I wouldn't mind one even if I don't listen to CD 's that often)

here is the transformer used
