SNA Speakers Audition Short List

20 in each category is excessive.

Notwithstanding conspiracy theories, I just feel that it becomes and little bit diluted with 20 nominations. The thing is, anybody can name their current crush on a given loudspeaker but I think the value of these lists is that they actually do not have 20 names. It is also practically impossible to audition so many speakers if using the lists for buying guidance.

I suppose the problem is you end up with a number of speakers that the first posters got in - the list is full before an extensive list has been created.  How do you then adjudicate what deserves to be there? Deleting and adding will become a bit fraught - one persons judgement is another persons pre-judgement. That’s why I think it would be good to branch off into sub threads based on price point so conversation to whittle the long list down to a shortlist can be a bit more focused and manageable.

Hello I would have to say that the Axis Voicebox S would fit in the $1000 to $2000 price bracket on special or $2000 plus as rrp a very potent little bookshelf speaker with a ribbon.

I can personally vouch for Q Acoustics Concept 20. I have just purchased a pair from Eastwood HiFi last week. I am listening to them right now. They are amazing for my ears! A feeling of a silky smooth sound!

Looks like the Magnepans (3.7, 20.7) have both just moved out of their respective price brackets..... $11k and $21k respectively. Damn exchange rates.!

I just went around and tried a few on the list. 

Ended up with a pair of PMC fact 12's. (Not on the list)

The signature is $34500 ATM but for me, they were absolute best before getting to the MB2SE. And I put my own money behind this statement.

 

In short, IMO go audition these if your in that price bracket.

 

(And bear in mind, no one ever pays retail, especially at this end of the spectrum)
