I agree about the Oz market. People make suggestions on what they have tried and what is available to try.

 

There isn't much point in suggesting something you or your peer group have never heard. The value of this thread is that the nominations are based ,not upon reviews but upon actual experience.

I have tried Wharfedales and cantons and IMVHO I did not feel they were especially worthy, with the Denton being an honourable exception.

Thanks. From you, I will take that as a compliment. You are also a zen master at nit picking.

As for the RPM 600, I have a mate in Sydney who owns a pair and I have only heard them about 50 times. ( I pray for your indulgence if I call this actual experience )

I don't like them, he does. We are still great mates. He also has about 6 other pairs of speakers and rotates them around regularly.

 

 

You obviously like them also so why would you care that I don't?

 

I suggest we keep this friendly and my opinion is just that. No more or less in worth than anybody else.

Hi Grant I assume you have heard each of the six 30K+ speakers you have kept as top 6?

I am genuinely interested, as I asked LHC to add the $30+ category and started that list by inserting the Voxativ field coil 9.87 speaker system, which I own.

Of the six remaining on your list I I have only heard the Revel Salon 2, Vandertsteen Model 7MkII, KEF Blade.

I was wondering why you didn't think the Voxativ would make the top 6?

Hi Chris,

 

I checked the OP, and as I thought, it is not a requirement to have heard the recommended speakers. But I have heard Nos 2, 3 (actually Giya G3), and 4 on my $30,000+ list.

 

Regarding Voxativ, I am reluctant to include it in a list of speakers to recommend to other people, until have encountered at least one full range, bass augmented speaker that sounds great and measures well both off and on axis.

Understood and I assumed you will not have heard every one of the speakers you have listed across every price category including the $30,000+ group but I was interested to understand why you deleted the Voxativ 9.87 as opposed to other $30K+ speakers in your list that you similarly have not heard?   Being not readily available to audition in Australia I appreciate the 9.87 system may never make your shortlist but I can assure you they sound excellent.   By the way which full range bass augmented speakers have you encountered as there are very few I know of...
