How do these compare to the he4xx/400i?

I was all but convinced that I wanted the beyerdynamic dt1990 but I love my 4xx

Hey mate, I’ve never owned a He4xx so take this with a grain of salt, but from what I’ve read the He4xx is warmer/has a bump in the mid bass that can muddy lower mids, less subbass extension, a treble peak/uneven treble comparatively, and inferior imaging and speed. Sundaras are a little cooler/more linear bass across the board, have a much more even treble response, and a slightly smaller soundstage (not too sure about this). I had dt1990’s directly before the sundaras, and I liked the sundaras a lot more. The mids were more intimate and warm, the treble was even/never sibilant, the soundstage was smaller but to me felt more natural. The biggest gripe I had with the dt1990 was how clinical and dry it sounded, especially in the mids. The sundara solved that issue for me, while still providing a cool-neutral signature with fantastic imaging and speed. Hope this helps 👍

Item: Nordost Valhalla Speaker Cables 9ft (2.7m) spade-spade factory terminated pair
      Location: Melbourne
Price: $3500 FIRM. No offers or tyre kickers please. Current RRP of the replacement mk2 version is about $20K.
      Item Condition: Good. No damage
Reason for selling: Selling for a friend who is moving and getting out of high end. More items (a whole system) will be listed as I find time
Payment Method: Cash, Bank transfer or Paypal
Extra Info: No introduction should be needed for these legendary cables, which became an industry standard through the abundance of reviews. They were Nordost's top model until the introduction of the even more extravagantly priced Odins. Renowned for their detail, clarity and soundstage.
If you've dreamed of getting almost the best that Nordost have to offer at a feasible price, this is a rare opportunity!
