Pics new CNC'd Horn 3-way Jabo/Beyma TPL150/AE TDM10

Recommended Posts

Just about finished this exotic three way horn system, featuring:

- Jabo 350Hz horn in peal silver/white

- Radian beryilium 2-inch compression drivers

- Tweeter is Beyma TPL-150 air motion transducer (silver model)

- Bass is Acoustic Elegance TDM 10 inch (x4)

- Xover is LR2 for horn tweeter (750Hz and 4,000Hz), Munford Supreme caps and foils (300B mono blocks for horn/tweeter)

- Bass xover is Minidsp (750Hz), driven by Krell amp

Bass cabinet is CAD CNC'd Euro birch ply, 50mm wall thickness, 50mm baffle, lead lined, bitumen painted. Braces integrated into CNC'd layers.

Tweeter housing is CAD CNC'd, xover is in here.

Horn mount is CNC'd birch ply rings, with ply struts and ply plinth.

Cables are hand made 99.99% flat ribbon silver in Teflon tubing, with silver solder.

Baffles and rear panels prepared in two pack poly piano black gloss, with extra buffing.

Cabinets finished in bees wax hand polish.

16 individual WBT gold terminals, with allow plates.

Should sound nice....!

Impressive construction is not an overstatement.  Well done.

Do you have a feel (or a plan) for listening position distance from the speakers ?

Thank you.

There's two aspects to your question.

Initially, the listening room will be small.....approx. 2.5m wide speakers to 4.0m to seat.

That will change when a new room is built.....3.5m wide x 5.5m to seat.

Hard floors, with some soft furnishings.

Source is LP, reel to reel and CD, plus downloads.

Elson 300B mono blocks, plus Krell amp for bass duties.

May add a dedicated amp for the tweeters.

Pure silver hand made ribbon speaker wiring.

Stainless steel outriggers to be added.

Here's how a two-way might look (which was the original plan for this design).

Having built many horn systems over the past 15 years, I can attest to how nice a two-way can sound...especially if you're using world class beryllium compression drivers as these have.

US$750 each.

The beryllium truly gives that "bell like" sound.
