Item: PS Audio PerfectWave CD Transport
Location: Syd
Price: $2200
Item Condition: Excellent
Reason for selling: Not using it...
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info: This is an excellent transport! Plenty of great reviews on the net. I'm the original owner. I bought it from distributor.
I have rarely use it in the last three years, so it is collecting dust... and I would like to try something else. I have original double box to be sent any where in Aus but I would prefer local pick up.

I heard one in Perth a few years ago linked to a DSD DAC via I2S. Amazing!

Is this the same technology as the directstream current model??

I believe it is same tech. It has digital output "I's connection" for PS DACs. PS audio recommends this connection as the best sounding connection for their combination transport - Dac,

Sure is. PS Audio invented the I2S / LVDS format.

No sacd though :( I heard the newer model the other day and it sounds amazing.

This is a serious transport. Upgrading to the newer models specs seems possible too

I think that you will find that PS Audio is using the I2S format implemented over a HDMI connection.  PS Audio may not have been the first to do it this way.  They were definitely early in the the implementation though.  There is no agreed standard for I2S over HDMI.  Several other companies do follow the PS Audio pinning

The sound quality (for the size, features and cost) is rather good, certainly it was side by side with a Yamaha WXA-50 for quite a period of time,  and guess which one was easily the preferred sound wise.   Has all the basics you need, ethernet, wifi, optical in and sub pre-out with very solid speaker posts for a quality and unobtrusive lounge setup or even a one stop TV unit

**Note: Amp has some issues with the analog inputs, in that you hear mainly static crackling with the source only very faint in the background.  Could be easy fix, could even be my inputs, but I didn't even bother as I only used the optical in or direct streaming via Tidal/Spotify
