I had one of these--beautifully finished  and I still recall  the Smell--I think it was the Connolly leather mat

but on cold nights-you'd open the lid and this Rolls Royce "odour" would envelope the room--soundwise nothing special rather bland actually

Trialled an Oracle--it blitzed  the PD--still it probably will go for good $$'s

I think you might be mixing up your PDs. The PD300 doesn't have a mat. Other luxmans like the PD121 had a thick suede mat. The PD300 is a great deck IMO

By Gosh It was soooooo long ago-- you maybe right Blinky-- funny though I seem to recall 300 on the Manual-Hmmm ah well-- he'll get good Drs like I said

I still don't think any of those era Luxmans were great though technically and visually yes -soundwise OK-- the Kenwood LO7D of similar time was far superior.

400 Bucks for a non-functioning, non-original (wrong handles, missing transistor covers, wrong knobs) PL 700B. YIKES! Tell 'im he's dreaming. I think I'll dust mine off, if this puppy sells for anything close to that figure.

"costing thousands new"!

Hah! RRP (in the US, in the early 1970s) $749.00.

Mind you, they weren't a bad old amp.

That did look interesting, until you see that sellers feedback profile, and the fact it is a 100volt unit. Edited by Ray H

One of the miniscule number of amps that really is 100 Watts Class A. A very nice sounding thing too. A bit of a bugger to move around though.

Indeed !

I still sport a scar on my shin from my time with one.

They have about the sharpest heatsinks I think I've ever come across ;)

Great amp though, and an excellent room heater too .....

I wonder how much that Grython amp will fetch for, kind of in the shop for power amps lately.

The ME1500 scar is shorter but deeper.
