There's a Meridian 565 up for sale at $1695, which is way too much. It's here

By sheer coincidence, the seller is the same as the buyer of last week's Meridian 565 for 1225.

Gumtree is a eBay owned business for some time now. Surprising when one hears it the first time but true.   As far as 300% profit which you call outrageous, it is not different to what super

I really want to throw this SNA member under the bus for his actions lately. I sold him a set of the Yamaha's in the ad for $1900 and he has them listed at $4000 now. Also he was $100 short which he n

The CD-99 DR player was released in December 1988 with the CDM-1 Mk 1 mechanism. The earlier CDM-1 mechanism along with the die cast platform used a glass lense attached to a metal barrel on the mechanism. This was replaced by the CDM-1 Mk 11 mechanism ( used in CD 94 MK11 /CD 80) etc which although it used the same die cast chassis went to plastic parts around the laser optic system. This was done partly to reduce production costs but also to improve the speed at which the laser accessed tracks around the disc. Early criticisms of the CDM -1 mechanism was it was to slow skipping between tracks due to the weight of the laser optic assembly. I know of a few clients trying to obtian parts for the CDM-1 MK 1 mechanism without success as they stopped production in the Mid nineties. Very well built transport all the same.

Oooh, those amps look nice, valves and power. I think I need a tattslotto ticket as I have no money, just spent $500 on yet another DVD player/recorder after the last one died after a bit over 12 months. At least this one plays VHS too and I got an extended warranty. I suppose, since I don't have the funds I shouldn't look at this thread but I can't resist.

Sony SCD-XA777ES SACD player.

Absolutely superb. Many people think that if this player is modded it's still better than most modern SACD players. One of the few rare SACD players with 5.1 output. Heck it's so cheap I might pick it up myself :)

Its from the same ebay user, so perhaps he has relisted it.[/b]

yep, its the same. there were no bids originally (my link), so he has relisted it at a lower price (Keith_W's link).

theres also a black SCD-XA9000ES that has been listed and relisted countless times over the last few months. i think the person dropped it to about $3800 in the end, but still it passed in. i cant see it listed anymore, so i guess they finally gave up.

There is no way the XA-9000ES would sell for $3800! When Sony stopped production, the Sony shops were clearing them out for less than $2000. I wouldn't pay more than $1500 for a used XA-9000ES. Having said that, it is a better player than the 777ES.

agreed, i saw one in Sony Central for $1800 (new of course), so i think $3800 is far too steep. i did actually let the seller know about this initially, but never heard a reply and they kept listing for the same money (initially about $4200, eventually dropping to $3800).

oh well, i hope they didnt pay full RRP for it in the first place!

Not sure whats going on there , I thought these were sold the other day , may be the sale fell through or the seller may have a few pairs. May be some one had a biamped system. Hmmm

Bl00dy hell. It potentially draws more power (3kw) than 99% of us can supply from normal GPO (2400w, 10amp)

Hes in Melbourne, ive bought off of him before. Good guy with some of the best gear to grace ebay aus.

I personally like these Dynaudio's and if you wanted 2k speakers now could certainly do a lot worse.

Yes, I can confirm that. He is a nice guy and good to buy stuff from. Just dont listen too deeply to his advice on what else to get cos he can be a bit biased, but all salespeople are to some extent.

McIntosh Power and Pre Amplifier MC402 and C2200

Not exactly cheap, but nice gear none the less[/b]

I thought that step down transformers were not a good idea for high end gear as they reduce the 240v to 120v OK but leave the frequency at 50hz rather than the 60hz that the gear was designed to handle. This leads to the gear being unduly stressed and running hotter than normal.

Just noticed Cage's details on his post. How many overseas members do we have on the forum?.

Looks like the sphere of influence of SNA is growing. Go members!
