Hello GAT474,

I have one in hibernation (an 802) and dont recall any issues, but you never know. Perhaps I should dig it up to be sure.

Somebody was recently looking to try an Audio Research Pre Amp, well this looks pretty fine for the money;

I have used the SP9 MKII with great results, now I am not sure of the Serial Numbers when MK II' or MK III's started, but I seem to recall one way of telling a MK II was if it had an input labelled CD.

Pity it isn't the SP11. That is supposed to be the bees knees.

Hello All,

An interesting Pioneer CD player or stable platter transport mechanism:

That would make a good buy for anybody wanting a standalone CD player and would be a very interesting proposition as a transport. My brother owned one so I am pretty familiar with it. The reputation for sound reproduction is well earned. It's not "high end" but it was VERY good value for money when new.

You actually insert the CD "upside down" (label side down) to play it. The drawer mechanism is solid and quiet and the build quality of the player is very good.
