Great Buys On Ebay, Gumtree, Marketplace etc.

Well I got gazzumped at the end on the spare Micro MR611 TT. It went for $74 and it's 35 years old and no tonearm. Too much when you are just looking for spare parts. Anyway (touch wood) nothing seems to go wrong with the Micro - after 35 years even the light still works, all I have ever replaced is the belt (once in 20 years)!

I bought myself ROTEL RB-951 stereo power amplifier 2 X 50watt rms or 1 x 150watt rms into 8 ohms for $135 and its local so pickup no problem, thought for a lower powered amp that was a good deal :)

oh a great saying i once learned when i first started working in retail and selling of second hand goods, something is only "worth" what you can actually "get" for them,

i dont know if anyone here has mentioned this

but i'd buy this if i seriously have the cash on me

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MARANTZ-CD-99-DR-CD...1QQcmdZViewItem

tis a marantz cd transport. tis with the philips mechanism. i want one...

[/b]

MARANTZ CD73 SAA7000/10 SAA7020 2xTDA1540 CDM1

MARANTZ CD74 SAA7000/10 SAA7020 2xTDA1540 CDM1

Thats just two of the marantz decks that had the CDM1 transport and theres a handful more

Both of those sell for around $300

the cd94 which is the same era has the tda1541 dac chip as well as digital outs sells for around 6-900 so i would say this is around $400 overpriced at least. Nice, rare but way overpriced for what it is.

also try the cd80,84 and 85 which all have the CDM1 transport. At the same time look for Phillips of that era, after all they owned marantz and internally they had equivelents for most marantz products of the time.

Cheers

Actually theres a cd73 on now wilco... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...E:IT&ih=003

Purely on rarity someone might buy it, but the fact it is only a CDM1 transport and nothing else certainly in my books doesnt value it at $900 ... you never know i bet it still sells

There's a Meridian 565 up for sale at $1695, which is way too much. It's here

By sheer coincidence, the seller is the same as the buyer of last week's Meridian 565 for 1225.

The CD-99 DR player was released in December 1988 with the CDM-1 Mk 1 mechanism. The earlier CDM-1 mechanism along with the die cast platform used a glass lense attached to a metal barrel on the mechanism. This was replaced by the CDM-1 Mk 11 mechanism ( used in CD 94 MK11 /CD 80) etc which although it used the same die cast chassis went to plastic parts around the laser optic system. This was done partly to reduce production costs but also to improve the speed at which the laser accessed tracks around the disc. Early criticisms of the CDM -1 mechanism was it was to slow skipping between tracks due to the weight of the laser optic assembly. I know of a few clients trying to obtian parts for the CDM-1 MK 1 mechanism without success as they stopped production in the Mid nineties. Very well built transport all the same.

  • 2 weeks later...

Oooh, those amps look nice, valves and power. I think I need a tattslotto ticket as I have no money, just spent $500 on yet another DVD player/recorder after the last one died after a bit over 12 months. At least this one plays VHS too and I got an extended warranty. I suppose, since I don't have the funds I shouldn't look at this thread but I can't resist.
