sansui 4900 250$

I think it's a fair price for the 4900

Thanks danter. A lot of people don't know of this brand. Not only do they look good they have a unique sound which I enjoy :thumb:

I now have (2) pairs myself, Studio Monitors & the TLS50's. I myself becoming a IMF tragic too

I'm going to make some dollies so I can move them when setting them up for a session. I might even use them to transport my Sansui amps too

that's a nice score you got there  :thumb: . I recon we should have a transmission line GTG sometimes. Just got some like new lentek monitors recently and boys they are impressive.

Not a bad price for a item that's not been reco'd. Looks to be in excellent cosmetic condition.

Shame there aren't more pics.  Spend a bit on getting it overhauled and you'd have a keeper for under $400

they're actually called lentek monitor. Drivers are kef b139,b110,t27 and celestion hf 2000 so basically the same with tls80 minus the t27. From what I gathered the inside is closer to cambridge r50 than the imf line through.

and sure I have some pics of her lying on the ground waiting  :P

TANNOY CHEVIOT (MADE IN ENGLAND) $1,800.00 [WA]

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/westminster/other-audio/tannoy-cheviot-made-in-england-/1070886887

Impressive looking speakers, I would have loved to have a listen but unfortunately they are not in SA :-(

There is a cheaper one being advertised right here in our classifieds, sorry but I did not realise when I originally posted last night:

The ebay Cheviots appear to have the original foam surrounds which as far as in aware were standard on the HPD series. The ones on here look to be redone with the foam jobs standard on the gold series. Something i learnt through researching Tannoys before buying a_dents monitor golds.

I dint think the foams are any inferior other than needing replacement every 15 years or so.

Hi Sam,

They look familiar (see photo)! I will be watching the auction with interest; mine are currently languishing in restoration row, and recent 'speaker purchases mean they will be listed soon here or elsewhere.

Regards,

Phil

I love your restoration row, Phil. So much cool stuff. Scuse my ignorance but what's the speaker behind the Altecs?

Too bad it's not one of AR's vintage tube power amps. The AR SS power amps are nothing special to write home about in particular but the tube amps are good.

Have you heard one?

I have, driving Wilson Watt Puppies, and it sounded very well balanced in its frequency response and quite refined.

Ahh; Sir has a good eye!

That's a vintage Pioneer corner enclosure loaded with a PW-15 (15") woofer, a PM-6 (6") midrange, and a PT3 horn tweeter. The casting quality is as good as anything I've owned; underneath the magnet cover is a big old double slug horseshoe Alnico magnet...I call it the Grandfather of the TAD 1601! It took me a number of years, but I now have a stereo pair of all drivers.
