CLONE NOTE PASSIVE PREAMP ATTENUATOR designed by Uriah Dailey. ($250)
This is a great match with LS50’s and opens up the sound but also has great ’slam’. It adds nothing and subtracts nothing from the source signal.
24 position rotary level control using switched resistor shunts via SMD relays to remove mechanical contacts from the signal path.
One RCA stereo pair input and output.
2 x Vishay precision 10 turn pots for adjusting input impedance to suit your own preferences for level slope adjustment. i.e gentle increase or quickly increase of initial level. Final level remains constant.
Uses two unmatched LDR’s so replacements are fast and cheap unlike some others which require up to ten LDR’s to find four that match.
Full documentation supplied
MODIFIED COMMERCIAL SPEAKER STANDS ($85) PICKUP ONLY
Pair of very solid sand filled stands. Bamboo canuba waxed top plate and base. Cable hooks on base for stability. * original stands had a smaller top plate and a hollow pressed metal base which tended to 'ring'. Stands were specifically adapted for KEF LS50s. Size: HEIGHT: 640mm - TOP 240x180mm - BASE 290x210mm - WEIGHT: 8kg approx. Powder coated tubes approx 95mm diameter.
FOIL SPEAKER CABLES ($50)
1/1000 inch by 40 mm insulated copper foil speaker cables match the capabilities of the LS50’s. Approx 1.5 metres each, unterminated. These might look ugly but beauty is in the ears of the listener.

I seem to recall a mention of a GTG for the LK1 speakers, or was it the ML5s?
Could have been the new ML1's, or possibly the Magnesium Ltds.
Whichever one it was I thought the idea deserved its own thread as I certainly can't remember where I read it. And since these GTG's happen 2 or 3 times a year why not have an announcement thread.
So Mike, any GTG's planned for the near future?
And what was the next one for again?
Apart from GTG, anyone sipping their favorite alcoholic beverage while listening is seriously compromising their ability to listen effectively.
Below is a report ( also on Podcast) from Dr Karl who explains the direct link between alcohol in the bloodstream and hearing impairment. The loss is not consistent throughout the frequency range either it seems . I would say that this phenomenon could explain why a lot of crazy opinions are expressed while drinking at GTG's (or elsewhere). Of course, if that's the way of listening all the time, then the results will be consistent.
Item: Yamaha AS-1000 integrated amp, silver
Location: Hobart, Tas
Item Condition: Very good 8/10 for age
Reason for selling: Surplus to requirements
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info: Purchased off SNA in October 2013 for $900. Freight was a bit over $100 to Tas at the time. It has been in storage for 1 year. The year before that I was using it as a pre-amp whilst waiting for my Cymer pre to be built. So it hasn't seen much work lately. I cannot make out any scratches or marks on the unit so it is in really good condition. However the remote has a hairline scratch (see pics) about 1 cm long. Great sounding amp that hasn't missed a beat. Nice MC phono stage. Many reviews on-line. As it weighs 22Kg I will give preference to a local sale. I still have the box (although some of the polystyrene is broken I can package well) so post is an option if I can't get a local buyer. Retail I believe was $2500 back in the day.
Thanks for looking.
