Has anyone had their speakers “wrapped”?

Yes my JBL's are 'wrapped'.

They've come up excellent as a few here who have seen them would agree, I'm sure.

The cost, depending on size is $600 - $1000. Finishes are endless, but some speaker shapes may be more involved than others.

Yes Nick @ Exotic does do fantastic work and they've done car related wrapping for me before.

The prob with my speakers is I needed them done on site due to the size/weight.

A local vinyl graphics (Macedon) place did mine and came to my house to do it.

Just so I understand this thread. Are we talking about wrapping speakers in vinyl?

Sorry if that’s a dumb question but it’s not immediately obvious to me.

Next question is why?

and final question is wouldn’t it possibly affect the sound of the speakers ?

Yes. Just the cabinets to change the colour etc. won’t effect sound at all as not touching the drivers

It better used in unmarked cabinets as vinyl wrap will not conceal scratches and so forth. But it peels off also so you can change back to original or colour any time.

So it's see through then? Like what you'd cover school books with but thicker?

No not see through. I guess you could if you wanted to protect the original finish. Mostly it’s to make black speakers red or white speakers blue. Whatever

Any colour you want.

And similar process yes. The reason you want a good wrapper is that they can do tricky seams on speakers very well.

That's handy to know. My wife isn't a fan of black so there's an excuse ;)

Doesn’t it potentially change the stiffness/resonance etc of the box itself?

I’d say no as it’s fairly thin but also flexible. I doubt there would be an audible difference but their is never a thread without two points of view.

I don’t have an opinion on it, I’m just trying to learn and understand

Wasn’t suggesting you. Was just saying that my opinion is that it wouldn’t. My knowledge on cabinets etc may be less than others. ?
