manchu
Hi. I’d like to get my dads old reel to reel going so I can play some music from it at his funeral this week. Its a Sharp RD-711. Power lights up when main switch is in Stop position. Reel roarates if FF/F lever set to forward play. If I set main switch to forward playor rewind the power light goes out. Maybe op error. I haven’t tried much to fix or research yet. Hoping for some tips, manual or anything that might help in getting it going by Tuesday. I’ve had it working in the past, 30+ yrs ago, but probably not used since. Can anyone recommend somewhere to get it serviced uregently in Melbourne.? North east way preferably. cheers Edited May 19, 2019 by manchu
koputai
You'll need to have a tape loaded and laced up, otherwise it will not run. Have a feel of any tape you intend to play BEFORE you play it. If you get anything coming of it when you run your fingernail along the tape, don't play that tape, it will gum up the machine. Cheers, Jason.
