aussievintage
I am looking for suggestions for Jazz similar to that written by Mancini for Peter Gunn, but not specifically the theme. I really like the other tracks on both the albums. I have them both on original RCA mono. Tracks like Sorta Blue, Brothers go to Mother's, and many others. Not sure of the jazz genre. Some is almost big band swing, and other bits are smooth and lay back. Some of it at times reminds me of exotica like Arthur Lyman (probably the way he used vibes) without the jungle noises. att23
Maybe try Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington... since you mentioned big band swing

I even have heaps of big band and swing on 78 records, as well as LP. As I said, some of Mancini tends that way, but in general it is different, especially the slow jazz tracks which I also enjoy. Ian McP
check out Palm Tree Paddy's show on PBS, Ports of Paradise, shows are archived, listen back at your leisure. https://www.pbsfm.org.au/program/ports-of-paradise < midcentury melting pot of sophisticated sounds from the golden age of exotica ... including jungle jazz, tribal percussion, Latin rhythms, early Calypso, cocktail lounge, stereophonic showpieces, space-age symphonies, and tropical island swing. > https://www.facebook.com/portsofparadise/
joz
Sounds great loud. But perhaps the original studio version rather than this with the extra sound effects.

hired goon
Idano ... jazz with strings ... veering very close to big band swing, then exotica, and beyond that into schmaltz. Jazz: - Gil Evans - Out Of The Cool - Kenny Burrell - Guitar Forms - maybe some of the older George Benson albums? Exotica: - Mandingo! - George Shearing colours series maybe (white, satin, etc) --Geoff
