silencer13
Yeah, that's already Stax flagship territory. But I don't like the integrated amp/DAC thing. They should have made a system that's separates and that could be used with Stax, then maybe it'll sell. Right now it's proprietary (from what I see anyway), which means if you choose them, you have to fully commit to their system.

Guest mousike
Did some fiddling with the Th900. Had some dummy prove tips from Alex Sventitsky. The result with the Platinum is simply impressive...will have a better idea after a little more running in. So far very promising...[emoji1303]

Guest mousike
the highs were too hot for me to handle. sold it off long ago for the TH-X00 with dekoni pads & inserts. These are two very different heads phones. Not sure if that is still the case for the mkll. I find the Th900 pretty impressive for what it is and have enjoyed it. Now with Wywires Platinum it cleans up a number of inherent issues some folks complaint about and pushes the performance further. I am very pleased with the result thus far even though only been a few hours running in. According to it's designer it will take about 200 hours for it to sets in so I hope it will only be better - in my experience most does sound better over time. The original wires with the Th900 is fairly basic and it's with a Duralumin 1/4 inch plug a kind of Aluminium alloy. All looks great but this mod just confirms my suspicion on the performance bottleneck I am hearing. There are plenty of other mods like physical damping, pads...but I heard conflicting comments so it's highly dependent on preference too. But the Dekoni leather pads does look cushy and nice. I am happy with it so far and even my wife likes it now. Prior to the mod she likes the LCD3 better. Not suggesting it's better then LCD and that's a different headphone but definitely way better when it's with stock cables. This isn't a very easy mod but if you have the right equipment and time why not. Have fun!!

Guest mousike
easily better than my LCD2. so much more natural sounding and way more comfy. I have not heard the LCD2. Sure the LCD3 is a step up...that said I have compared 3 vs 4 and not fully convince it's worth what it's asking for. I rather stick with 3 with a better ALO cables and source. The Fostex TH900 mod with Wywires Platinum wires is worth considering versus going for the current MKII. The newer version has connectors and allow you to switch cables. IMO a better cable and plug that is hard wired is a better option and performance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

domho8
Was at vivo stereo played with the entry level stax headphones and amp. Noticed have to push up volume to almost 2 o'clock probably due to the noisy environment outside. Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
InnocentBlood
Found these modded pair of TH900 MkII on Carousell. With the detachable cables, these sound pretty wonderful (to my ears at least) with the moon audio silver dragon V3 cables. The Lawton pads are very comfy too. Had to part with my Sony Z7 as part of the trade for these cans but I think it's a worthwhile trade-up. I guess now my Massdrop PurpleHearts and E-MU Teak will have to go... Mine is the Mk I but I read there isn't much difference between the two stock units. :)
