Looks like another industry consolidation is about to happen: https://www.engadget.com/2019/05/15/sound-united-buys-onkyo-home-audio/

I can't say that this feels like good news.

Good find!

No doubt there's likely to be some serious product rationalisation. Hopefully we won't see products pulled down to the lowest common denominator, but I'm not confident that won't occur.

oh wow... but to be honest the onkyop stuff for a little while has been really on the nose... with so many reliability issues and doing things like home cooked EQ etc to save cost and things like that. certainly no where near onkyo integra was some years ago. and pioneer mere shadow of former self only very recently brought out some lovely disc players.

yes it does in some ways reduce choice ... in that perhaps there will be more shared tech. but possible all brands richer by it ? pioneer is only one out the lot making a top line UHD and universal player. something marantz and denon for instance or onkyo for matter no longer do.

Seems to be the way of the world right now. Rationalising  supply chain, distribution and retail  and the consumer is left with no options .
