VPI Aries Scout upgrades?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have an Aries Scout which I’m happy with but I’m just wondering what upgrades are available & would give me a lift in performance over & above moving it on & upgrading to a newer VPI TT?

Pretty sure my TT is standard spec with a standard arm.

Isolation feet, upgraded arm, antiskate? I do plan to upgrade the cart (currently running Clearaudio concerto) so this post is more about the TT itself.

Overall I’m really happy with the TT, just wondering if I can squeeze much more out of it & how much that would cost?

Cheers all

Matt

Not sure about available upgrades but was thinking would you be better off with a Classic 1?

Ive owned both Scout and Classic with the Classic being a big jump up.

The Prime replaced the Classic. Newer ain’t always better

Gryflles,

Don’t you add back in motor noise using a Classic Vs a Prime?

I’ve not heard a Classic TT but I like the idea/concept of an off board motor?

Yes I suppose that could happen but wasn’t a problem I experienced.

Im no expert in TT design

I just loved my Classic and thought that would be a better option than upgrading a Scout

I have the Classic & Prime and both are dead silent. The inbuilt motor on the Classic 1 is well isolated. Check the VPI website for available upgrades or contact @Krispy Audio

I’ve looked. There is not too many upgrades other than platforms with balls etc.

At the Hifi show I was shot down when someone said the arms let them down.  I’m gonna shoot out with my Linn when it’s up and running. My Mrs actually prefers your old Pro-ject to the VPI. She says more detail.

You only just got it. Will any change sound better or just different?

Just assessing my options with this deck really & as I suspected, there’s not much I can do with this variant but that’s ok; I’ll just make sure it’s set up correctly, chuck a better cart into it & if I want more...I’ll move it on.
