Rodney Lyne
Hi guys I recently aquired a second hand vincent amp and I was considering tube rolling. I had a look at the tubes and they are Russian tung sol 12ax7. I don't think these are the original tubes. Any one else own this amp and can verify what tubes it comes with. Guest thathifiguy
Not certain on the 236, but the 237 came with a basic Chinese tube as standard.

The guy I bought the amp from said he never touch the tubes but all the info I have found so far says they come with cheap Chinese tubes.
Dolphy
Change the tubes, you won't regret it! It's really easy to do.

djmt
I tried Mullard and Gold Lions, which I prefered. The 237 only has one 12ax7 (in the tube window) The pins on the Gold Lion were much tighter when installing so took a bit extra care. It was a bit of a chore to remove and my fat fingers took a beating. I'm sure you'll hear a difference which ever way you go and will be very happy with your Vincent.

What other tubes did u try in it I've only used Electro Harmonix, they are entry level tubes, but the improvement in the mid section was night and day. I haven't looked back. I'm sure you could get better tubes, but these were just fone for me.
Rodney Lyne
Can anyone explain the three positions on the 236.. I have read countless threads on different forums and I think I am more confused then when I started.
Rodney Lyne
I have some good news. I was able to find the contact details of the seller. He had swapped out the tubes but forgot somehow?
