Reach for the stars - My New HT Den

Recommended Posts

I used to have a room that was small yet had a nice sweet spot for one seat - that's how small it was. But it had a wonderful enveloping effect from the 7.1 setup. Things changed, and I moved to a flat with a more open place. I had Atmos, with a full 11.2.4 setup, but that small room was still something I really enjoyed.. it also had room for trinkets, like an original Star Wars 1977 poster.

Recently I managed to move back into a large place, and I managed to get permission from the Boss (yeah, she's the boss) for the top floor with a high roof to be made into my own den. It's modest in size, around 4m wide, 3.92m long and 3.02m high.

So as part of the work done to the house, I took down the original false ceiling, and replaced the wooden beams with new and more sturdy ones. Reinforcements were also added where the speakers will be sited. Rockwool filled the gaps and also the entire ceiling on top of the wooden grid.

As for power:

The house has a three phase 63A supply, and I pulled a direct power line from the main DB to the room, which only supplies the power sockets and nothing else. The lights, aircon etc all draw power from another DB.

The diffusers and such will arrive in phase II

:)

Thanks, 100kg of rockwool in the ceiling, casement windows, and a really solid door with Billy bookcases covering the wall I share with my neighbour..

I heard a deep breathing the other night, scared me to bits (during the movie "A Quiet Place" .. then I realised I was hearing my own breathing, ha ha :)

Sharp eyes

I left NSW for a while..

But DTV was the first ever forum I actually participated in .. way back.

Was in whirlpool earlier but didn’t really post much

So when I get new kit I’ll share it here :)

That’s quite moving. It also gives me the impetus to have my print of the blown away guy reframed. Got it in ‘87 for my 21st , went through many share houses, storage, girlfriends, until my now wife banned it from our apartment. I think it’s time to make a reappearance on the wall in my study/listening room.

Stressless chairs and a wall of Billy bookcases complete the look..

That small brown cabinet is a heirloom from my mum.. she had it since she was 16...  It's no Hans Wegner or anything, but it's mum's and now it's mine..

Gotta get some dollies for the speakers ;)

Wow fantastic Peter, you've really created a unique place (den) of your own.  Love the ceiling diffusers and poster from a couple of posts ago.

Cheers

Thanks mate, I did document my entire building process in writing, just follow my signature... or go to pete'swrite on blogspot...

My favorite two posters are the Star Wars and the Maxell tape ones..
