DSPeaker (Anti mode) connection to Sub woofer

Recommended Posts

@Matyk, if you haven’t acquired any other room correction systems, you should try this with your setup if you still have the focal speakers. I took one of his units and it has made the bass more prominent in my setup (similar focal speakers) where I had similar bass issues..

I think everyone has covered it just be aware that going USB or Toslink the volume goes up quite a bit , it sound heaps better than analogue to Digital then back to Analogue . I've had one for years they are great fun and do improve the sound . I'd love to get a pair of sub anti's and an anti mode 2.0 or 2 anti modes .

If your running  Audessy via a surround it really messes with it's mind .

Thanks @DEANO23. I haven’t read it anywhere but learnt it when the volume decreased.  I have put the volume up as I already have a dac and don’t want to use Antimode’s dac.  My dac only has RCA and XLR outputs so I don’t think I can use the USB or Toslink?

See if you can borrow a CD player , DVD or bluray that has an optical out , they sound pretty good the only thing is why oh why a midi usb connection . It amazes me these companies do all this good work and then plonk a frigging mid sized usb connector . The first time I connected my Gustard U12 to it I was shocked how good it sounded.

Yes, the volume is certainly better with USB in comparison to analog. Tried with my CD player itself. Unfortunately all of my music is in digital files, which needs a DAC, so can’t bypass. Just increasing the volume for now. But the upper end is slightly smooth as well as with increased bass. Will live with it for now until I could find a DEQX secondhand..[emoji4]

If you are running your mains via XLR to your mono blocks and RCA to your subs the signal to your mains are 6db louder than  the rca to the subs . However with music unless you have a square room and really bright with tile and glass everywhere I prefer the 6db difference . I actually used  in an line attentuator to the subs they were just too sensitive .

This is how i am setup now.

Network Streamer -> USB -> Upscalar -> BNC cables -> DAC -> RCA -> Antimode -> XLR out -->  Integrated Amp (Antimode RCA Out to Sub). In this setup i have to increase the volume around 8dbs than what i normally hear..!  My room has hard wood (some rug) and glass on 2 sides (almost 75%). So without any treatment, there is slight echo without the antimode.

The way you setup your subwoofer is not a separate channel from your speakers.

Think of it as an overlap and extension of your current speakers which is defined by the crossover setting.

With your current setup your Antimode has no idea of your subwoofer and has no way of doing so.

But when it measures your left speaker the subwoofer will also be contributing to bass frequencies.

And when it measures your right speaker the subwoofer will also be contributing to bass frequencies.

The Antimode should correct the overall frequency of your left speaker and your right speaker with the subwoofer contributing.

Much like the way I have mine setup,,( I use a Velodyne SMS) till I had it connected to my subs while running my mains it was all over the place.

This way I could just boost the gaps and add some volume.

i only use my subs for movies but this was the best come.
