I have a Sony VPL-VW60, I’d say about 8 years old, how much better an image with standard blu-rays & 4K would you achieve with this BenQ Vs my older Sony?

Hi Matt,  Sorry for the delay.

The W1700 is a terrific value for money projector,.  Your Sony VW60 was released 12 years ago and was very good for the time.  I think it's safe to say that Sony's VW270 is their current version replacement.  (the VW60 was roughly the same price as it is, and offers quite a few matching core features.)

The biggest area of improvement you'd see with the W1700 is in light output.   it's a very punchy projector and this is a plus with HDR content. and image vibrancy.  Black levels are no match for something like the sony though.

FYI: If you're looking for an in-between option - the Epson TW9300 we currently have up for sale here offers very similar features to the Sony, and is a better projector overall to the W1700 with higher level of colour accuracy and black level preformance, but is also a slightly higher price.
