TQN
Hi One and All, Just seeing if anyone has their Panasonic FZ950 calibrated and want to share their settings. Want to see if it looks any better than the available modes available. Thank you in advance. Cheers!
Nevyn72
I'm just running mine on Professional 2 while building up some hours. I found Pro1 too bright...... I have been unable to find any settings online so far.
TQN
Same, been searching for them but have not found any. Guess they are pretty good out of the box so there aren't a huge amount needed. I tend to use THX cinema settings or Pro1. Did know you have to have to do a run in period.
Tweaky
You basic settings you want to use for the best picture that would be the basis of any calibration are. Gamma set at BT1886....Gamma is in Advanced settings, and in might not show at first as you have to have two other setting set just so before the option appears in the menu, it will tell you what settings will need to be changed so you can get BT1886. Colour temp set to Warm 2 Viewing mode set to either ISF Day or ISF night if available [it differs with TV model], change to suit brightness of the rooms ambient light, if not available use True Cinema. That's the basics. I have my own calibration gear and own a Panasonic EX780a, and have posted several calibration settings for that TV at this forum, that's how I know what will work with your TV. You also would want to have Colour set at 50, Sharpness 0, Tint 0. I tend to have Brightness set to 0 as well, and have Backlight and Contrast turned up, but as my TV differs from yours in not being OLED, I'm not sure if that would be suitable for a FZ model. DIY calibration is easy once you have done it a few times, the only expense you really need to factor for it the meter, which a suitable one is the Xrite i1Display PRO, which costs AUS$350 [sorry was $350 a few month ago, Now $399...darn Aus Dollar sliding] https://imagescience.com.au/products/calibrators/calibrator-recommendations You can use the freeware called HCFR with this meter https://sourceforge.net/projects/hcfr/ And a good guide on the process using this software can be found at this site...... it might be a bit out of date, as the software has been updated considerably since the guide was written, if you search the AVS forum you'll find heaps of helpful posts. http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10457 https://www.avsforum.com/forum/139-display-calibration/1393853-hcfr-open-source-projector-display-calibration-software.html Or you could buy ChromaPure software, use the same meter, and then use basically the same guide, but using the ChromaPure software [this guide is much more up to date] http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=35322 ChromaPure software site http://www.chromapure.com/products-chromapure-new.asp The test patterns are built into the software, and will allow you to calibrate for REC709 spec. To calibrate for HDR you can't use those test patterns, you need specialize HDR ones. You can purchase and download them from the Diversified Video Solutions site, these are the only commercially available HDR test patterns....cost is a measly US $25 https://diversifiedvideosolutions.com/dvs_uhdhdr-10.html Edited April 20, 2019 by Tweaky

Chigurh
No sport mode available in the picture viewing modes? Some reviews suggest that there is a sport mode. I'm guessing that was in an earlier software version or an overseas model. Does anybody have some good settings for sport?
TQN
For sports, you may be able to use the "intelligent frame creation" to help it a bit. someone posted this (can't remember where) but i haven't tried them as not sure how those IRE settings are meant to be setup: Professional 1 (daytime) Luminance 60 Contrast 90 Brightness 0 Colour 50 Tint 0 Sharpness 30 Warm 2 Everything off, except ifc - min. Gbickle
I have a 200 hour FZ950 55" and for a laugh I put in the above settings and measured the result. It is MUCH WORSE than the default settings. Grey scale is all over the shop with a huge shift to Red and the Colour targets miss by a long way. Just did to remind people to not bother with calibrated settings because even if you have a similar hour panel to the person that posted them, the panel production is going to vary between units to a point where the factory default is always going to be more accurate. The only adjustments I would touch without a meter would be the overall boost to the low IRE settings if you think you are missing out on some shadow detail. 1
