Suitable Amp - Monitor Audio Silver 100

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a pair of Silver 100 but not sure which amp pair with them. My taste in music is jazz, rock and some electronic. I am drawn to a Rega Brio but am open to suggestions.

Thanks

Depending on the budget, I'd start by looking at options from Rotel, Rega, Arcam, Audiolab etc.

NAD doesn't go well with Monitor Audio, neither does Cambridge.  Both can get boring and sterile.

I have Rega Elex-r with my Silver 200's.  I love it.

Great combination.

But as always a personal thing.

I have paired mine with a Cyrus One. I am happy with the sound.

Just about any 50+ watt amps from the usual suspects would be fine. MA's are not especially amp critical, but as always with most speakers, more quality watts give better results.

Keep a close eye on the FS listings here, there are always good bargains to be found.

Edit: I don't know your budget but this listing would be prefect.

I have Monitor Audio speakers but not the silver so will keep it general. When looking for amps I had best success with Musical Fidelity (which are often referred to as a good partner for MA but might be too expensive) and Marantz.  Good luck!

there is a Marantz Pearl-Lite for sale in classified's from ,wattsies67, in Sydney, would be worth the hassle of getting it posted, 70wpc $950, well priced
