Star Wars Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker

I hate the way they were released out of bloody order, when someone mentions the 1st I think of the first one released, which is episode 4 I believe. Some young upstarts don't even include the first 3 movies when they talk about Star Wars, does my head in xD

I think the view of this series success really depends on who people view the target audience is. I grew up with episodes IV to VI watching the last two at the drive in and as a child was super excite

Not sure why the haters have come out in Force (pun intended!) ?   Fair enough if you have seen the movie and do not like it.  But hating it based on one short trailer ???

And so it begins......

@cafe67 yes, quite. Also Droids.

Back when I first encountered Star Wars, 1976, it had great promise.

Agreed back that, it was something special and  even more so for the lack of cgi.

Nowadays i I think we are all jaded/blasé about it all , I think the other problem is there are simply better sci- fi movies out there, but perhaps not better franchises ?

The problem is not cgi or being jaded, the problem is simply bad characters and boring stories.

The characters in the first three movies are probably some of the best loved characters in movie history, it’s why those films were good.

Why do you think Game of thrones is so good, characters.

She may be cute, but that don’t make it good for the film.

And a mind blowingly epic, if almost debilitatingly complicated, story line. And I dont think there are many GOT characters left that anyone likes much less loves. 😁

I like most, and love a couple :)

So much to like about GoT, basically everything about making a good show..........makes Star Was look like Home and Away. That's going to get me roasted in a SW's thread :D

Sorry for OT, but am avoiding spoilers in the GoT threads.

So, who likes BB8...... So much cooler than R2D2 :)

R2-D2, hands down.

Yes, but he didn't do much in Force Awakens. However R2-D2 was awesome in the prequels.

Well I'm not much of a fan really but I thought the first 70 seconds of the trailer was sensational.  The build up and then a one-on-one with a jet fighter....  Makes me want to know what happens next - so properly teased I guess!

"Ian McDiarmid, the man who played Emperor Palpatine, wants you to know that the powerful Sith master is absolutely, positively “dead” heading into Episode IX. Whether or not you believe the man who played one of the most devious traitors in movie history is up to you."

A shame. IMHO he was my favourite character in the prequels. I like watching the prequels thinking of it as the "How Palpatine Played the Universe and Took Control". trilogy..

Strangely quiet here considering todays release.     I'm off to see it tonight.

I'm seeing it tomorrow night. Can't wait.

I watched EP IIX last night to jog my memory because I hadn't seen it since midnight screening on it's release day.   This will be the only one of all 9 I haven't seen at the midnight screening,  except for rogue one and solo, but they don't count.        A shame to end the long standing tradition but looking forward to not dozing off in the middle of it ;)

Let’s see if they do a better job then 7 and 8. Worst Star Wars films EVER😂 of the Disney films, Rogue One was clearly the best. By a LONG shot. They should of got Gareth Edwards to do the last one. I’m just waiting for a half finished Star Killer base to pop up 😂

Rouge one was a completely different production crew and was filmed in the UK.  The difference was certainly noticeable.

Watch the one and only 3D session in a Hoyts near me on Sunday. That was also the last as they have totally drop it the day after. The cinema is tiny and not even half full. Very sad to see 3D is not accepted well by the public.

I found it strange that the 3D picture was very soft in the beginning. The opening sequence with rolling credits and stars are all blurry. The focus could be wrong but the pre-show advertisements are razor sharp so I have no idea why. Lucky the picture seems to improve later on so it was not too painful to watch. Wonder if it is the same elsewhere. The cinema is newly renovated but the 3D experience is falling short of the last time with Endgames.

Too bad there is no sign of any local 3D bluray release anymore. Will have to pay a high price to import this one I am afraid.

Episode IX is unadulterated fan service. 😄

Is Disney Plus worth subscribing?
