migasson 502
Let’s see if they do a better job then 7 and 8. Worst Star Wars films EVER😂 of the Disney films, Rogue One was clearly the best. By a LONG shot. They should of got Gareth Edwards to do the last one. I’m just waiting for a half finished Star Killer base to pop up 😂 Edited April 13, 2019 by migasson

Snoopy8 3,738
Liked The Force Awakens (no. 7) because of the huge build up. Didn't mind the Last Jedi (no. 8), reckon people were too critical and analytical and did not sit back to watch the movie. Rogue One was excellent. Looking forward to Rise of Skywalker... 👍 Time to cast (or re-cast) your vote in above thread... Edited April 13, 2019 by Snoopy8 Added poll link, typo

In fact 8 was sooooooooo bad I have no desire to watch 9 or revisit any of the Star Wars movies. I am keen to watch Solo someday though as I've heard good things about it.

pops9745 168
7 was fine - probably because it was derivative (and a long time coming). 8 was almost criminally bad - enough to turn me off 9 (or maybe 8 was designed to jettison the old folk anyway). I grew up with 4, 5 and 6, suffered through the childish 1, 2 and 3 (and I could sort of forgive George as i knew he had not grown as a story teller) but 8 just seemed to take everything that I held dear and stamp on it like stubbing out a cigarette butt. Rather share my kids' interest in the Marvel Universe now.
noddyc43 138
With jj abram at the helm for 9 I think we are in for a treat. If anyone can mend it he can. He did some fantastic work with the star trek movies. The scene with Leah and rey, lando in the falcon brought a tear to my eye.

Peter_F 1,773
I love the Star Trek reboot with Chris Pine as James T Kirk. When you compare these to the last 7 Star Wars movies the studios should bow their heads in shame. Edited April 14, 2019 by Peter_F ...
Sime 1,493
Lol, I just now watched the trailer, so yeah, it’s gonna be crap. Every generation ion had a legend, it definitely isn’t that Jedi Girl.
SimonNo10 71
The title should be "And finally it Ends". These last attempts have brought nothing new to the Starwars universe with weak characters and average story telling. I couldn't care less about the new characters and now their trying to bring back the old characters because they know they made a mistake killing them off. Bringing back the Emperor...give me a break. Too late she cried too late. IMO.

zenikoy 1,512
I've seen them all at the cinema since 1978. So it's just kind of tradition now. Ep8 I can hardly remember the plot. Actually, I mostly remember checking my watch in the last hour as I had to pick someone up afterwards. Rogue One was excellent, and I've heard that it was "nobbled" for being a little bit too good compared to the recent episodes. Solo, I started watching the first hour and then broke off to do something important, like the dishes, then my Stan subscription expired. I doubt I will see the end of that one. So bring on Ep9 and let's end this thing!
cafe67 4,121
Rogue 1 was supposedly even grittier in early drafts/cuts to be even more war movie like, but got fiddled with to tone down the grittiness. But even rogue 1 had crap pointless characters, like Forrest whittakers character. At least the droid in rogue was better than the droid in solo
warweary 782
So rise of skywalker. What we looking at? Is leah skywalker going to become the new president of the new republic? Is luke skywalker going to reincarnate and start doing weird magical stuff? Is rey a skywalker? Will Ben Solo seek a name change at marriages births and deaths before becoming dictator?
Snoopy8 3,738
Not sure why the haters have come out in Force (pun intended!) ? Fair enough if you have seen the movie and do not like it. But hating it based on one short trailer ???

Umm no it's based on the last 2 movies with the same characters which are boring and forgettable...IMO. Just go on Youtube and watch the reactions of die hard fans to the new trailer and you will see the hate. We got burned with the last movie making Rey too powerful with limited training, the Mary Sue of Starwars. Back flipping over a tie fighter...Why?? So tie fighters are land speeders now . This movie will be no different and looks like we are going to Endor...hmm just like ROTJ with the last movie just like Empire (walkers at the end). Hopefully we get to see Wicket and his family and how they've struggled under the First Order. Should be epic .

ThirdDrawerDown 4,474
Disney's corporate behaviour for movie promo and what's in production etc shows tacit acknowledgement that they've almost killed their once-valuable property. Which is ironic, because Star Wars jumped the shark/ revealed itself as a Disney stories-for-children narrative when Luke and Leia's heartfelt passion disappeared in a wisp when they discovered they were related. If this was truly the stuff of legends, that would be where the story starts, not ends. See any Greek legend you care to name.
noddyc43 138
I think the view of this series success really depends on who people view the target audience is. I grew up with episodes IV to VI watching the last two at the drive in and as a child was super excited about the good Vs evil thing those episodes highlighted. Now I see that same excitement in my kids with the current series ( a little less so with ep VIII ) and with the joy i see in them gets me equally excited about the last episode. I don't feel that as I grew up with Luke, Leah and Han that Disney owes me anything in closure or that they are rehashing what was in the original. They are movies and if you don't like them then fine don't watch them. No need for all the hate on them.

cafe67 4,121
Lol, that's where it's get interesting, the older raised on eps 4-6 grumbling away versus the newer raised on eps 1-3 looking forward to 9. I was 10 when Ep 3 came out, would I have done the same when Ep 1 or 7 came out at the same stage. At 10 was I really that interested in the better storylines of 4-6 or has that just risen it's head in later years compared to the newer movies?

It means more than a movie and people feel they personally "own" it. There is no way possible anyone could ever make a Star Wars movie now that would be acceptable. Me, I'm along for the ride. I cant say Ep1 and 2 were my favorites but they were part of the story. Just as this is. I really liked Ep8 and thought it tied together quite a bit. I hope this one goes out with a bang. I mean its the end, it has to end big.
