PS3 AUDIOPHILE?

It's all about the number of conversions.  Internally, components use an electrical signal (coax) not a light signal (optical).  Converting from electrical to optical, then back from optical to electrical is where the losses occur.

It's more about the DAC being used. When @simon12345 is feeding analog from the PS3 to the amp, he is using the PS3's DAC. When he's feeding the optical from the PS3 to the amp, he's using the amp's DAC.

Two different subjects.  I'm explaining why coax between transport and DAC sounds better than optical almost every time.

OK, I must have misread the post above though, because I don't remember seeing the quote in it. But yes, two different subjects.
