blakey72
Hi all. Although from Australia not NZ my system comprises of a Plinius 9200 amp and a Plinius CD101 spinner. My system is kind of in pieces at the moment. The CD101 has stopped reading discs so is off getting fixed. My Sansui AU-4900 gave me some magic blue smoke so that is also being fixed. Components consist of: * Plinius 9200 Amplifier * Plinius CD101 cd player * PMC TB2S+ Standmount speakers * Project RPM5.1 Turntable (AT150MLX Cart) * RG213/U DIY Speaker cables * Mixture of interconnects Other bits and pieces: * Myryad Z114 cd player (duty at the moment) * Usher S-520 Bookshelf speakers * Equinox Pluto Bookshelf speakers * Proac Super tablets Headphone setup: * Cambridge Audio CD10 cd player * Little Bear tube headphone amp * Grado SR60e Headphones Also on the way is a Linn Sondek LP12 fully rebuilt from the ground up with many new components. I'll post some better pics once it's all back together.
Administrator Marc Posted August 26, 2017 Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2017 Great system @blakey72 - how do you decide which speakers to listen to?
blakey72
Well @Marc that's half the problem at the moment. I'm a little short on amps. The Plinius usually runs the PMC's for rock/metal, the Sansui sounds magic with the Ushers for stuff like Dire Straites and the Proac will be matched with one of Earle Weston's amps when I have the funds for jazz. The Pluto's are spare. Sometimes use them for female vocals as they are quite forward sounding.
Luckiestmanalive
So it looks like your listening position is behind a desk on a swivel chair, rather than on a lounge chair or sofa? Do you listen while you work? While I envy the choice you have regarding speakers I am trying to make myself feel better about at least having the (good) pair of speakers I do have! Thanks, B72, I'll post my set up soon...

This is my loungeroom
SONDEKNZ
Hey BLAKEY72 Nice gear. Some VERY nice gear... I just wanted to point out something that you may already know. When you have several additional speakers sharing a single room, all of the non-active speakers get excited by the sound-waves and start acting like "Passive Radiators". (Personally, I'm not a fan of Passive Radiators in ANY speaker design... let alone those that were NOT designed to be there!) For this reason, if you were finding it difficult to get real clarity and transparency from your system - on any of the amp/speaker combinations you run - it would be my guess that this is the first important issue to address. It's easy to test. Pick your favourite speakers. Have a listen to them with all of the other speakers nearby. Then completely remove all the (other) speakers from the listening room. Have another listen to your favourite speakers, alone in your listening room. I'm picking that your favourite speakers will (immediately) improve by quite a margin. Try it and you be the judge... (You might be shocked!!!) Enjoy... Edited February 28, 2019 by sondek
