Reverend Johnny Heathen
Anyone know anything about these? http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/home-audio/vintage/auction-631726155.htm I would have thought they'd make a good little project for someone but they've sat for months? Being that I briefly considered them for myself (there's no learning quite like jumping in the deep end!?) what am I missing here?
kaka
Wonder what the output level and speaker connections are (no shot of the back of the amps that I can see)
Owen Y
That's pretty pricey for ~12wpc amps, 50+yr old, & probably not that sensitive 2-stage cct. IMHO only.
Reverend Johnny Heathen
Cheers Owen, that's probably what I was really asking... He has a second set for $600 and I was flirting with the idea of offering him $500 and shipping, but realistically, am I capable of tearing them down and re-building? Who knows... Owen Y
How about building a tube amplifier kit?
Ernie1553552694
Owen's idea is probably better. You'll inherit less problems and a modern circuit.
Reverend Johnny Heathen
I suspect you're both right. I freely admit I just plain like the look of those old monos though. Before I go either way or even spend in any direction, perhaps I ought get myself back into gainful employment - all this frittering is bad for the balance sheet!?
Beeman
not so sure about the modern curcuit. I have not heard these but the late 50's Trimax studio amps I have been using lately are fantastic & coincidently now surplus to requirements heathan but you really shold get back to work first

But considering my employment status, dwindling balance and after yesterday's purchase - I will have most definately have to wait... What have they been ousted by, BTW? Beeman
8 watts of Line Magnetic 300B niceness Not in any hurry to sell the Trimax's they are rather special things...
dsan
This could be a fun project at a lower price point: http://www.trademe.co.nz/electronics-photography/home-audio/vintage/auction-634868481.htm Don't know anything about it, but it could look lovely with a bit of spit and polish. Owen Y
The JG20 is well regarded I believe, sought after in some circles, NZ vintage. Not a lot of dosh/risk, for what an integrated valve amp, around ~10wpc. Its a nice little Yarland amp actually, pretty new, I'm picking it up on the weekend so I'll know the model then.
