Max Christoffersen
I've been obsessing over streaming media for some time. The latest fad is Slingbox. It started with my WDTV and now I'm looking at the fun of streaming video around the house now that my own streaming radio station Kiss-FM is largely taken care of via Apple Airport/TV and my WDTV. So - a question; The Slingbox entry level device only has component input. So which NZ Freeview device has component 1080i output? And is anyone driving one of the Slingboxes and can advise on the stability and performance? A tip; read the Amazon reviews and watch out for those faulty caps after a year or so (Zinwell anyone?..) Ernie1553552694
It depends on your internet connection. I've heard reports that a business person with a pier de tier in New York gets their fix of baseball via Slingbox. I've seen Slingboxes available here on a daily deal site a year or two ago. So they've been here a while, but given how they've been run out at bargain prices indicates how well the uptake of them has been. Most terrestrial FV boxes have component outputs onboard. Max Christoffersen
Yeah I think the allure of TV streaming is intriguing but the reality may be something else all together. And with some Freeview devices coming under the $70 mark why not just but another for around the house use? I am intrigued by some of the possibilities of DLNA streaming from upcoming Freeview boxes. I think my TIVO is limited on its component output are other Freeview devices?
fahrenheit
Non-official Freeview boxes tend to be HD Component capable (like my retired Vantage HD6000). Certified boxes have to be 576i.
