That may well be right as the Mullard circuit was for a 10 Watt output. However for studio use the power rating allowed for a significant amount of head room. These amps drove large bass reflex cabinets fitted with 12 inch Rola or 15 inch Altech Lansing speakers. I agree that with modern speakers they would struggle.
