aarond1553552714
I just don't understand how someone can ask to try something in their system before purchase - its an auction FFS! You take the risk with the auction and if it doesn't work then you will have to on-sell it...
Ernie1553552694
No USB input. No native high-res. Unless you like the sound it produces there's not a lot to look forward to. Probably ok on a Squeezebox doing 16/44 files...
LHH
It was a nice DAC in its time. I remember them sounding detailed, natural and spacious... but it's been a while. I wouldn't pay more than about $800 considering some of the good cheap DACs (like the benchmark) that you could pick up for around $1k second hand. EDIT: Just noticed the offer price. I think it's reasonable.

I have listened to older DACs in the past and I have quite liked some of them. I'll hold out for Korea next week

NeilNZ
Except it doesn't tell you what it sounds like!

True but the points raised would most probably put it out of the running for me.I also find it a little more tangible to assess.

Ernie1553552694
It might not be any good if you wish to feed it 24/96 or 24/192 based files. That inky black floor might get boring.
gortnipper
I have this DAC and it is a nice one. It sounds very natural to me. No, it doesnt have the more modern features, so what it is worth to anyone is based on what it is used for. Me, right now, I just use mine with my CD transport. It is a great DAC that way - since that is the only function it was really designed for. If you need it as a USB or hi-res DAC, then you should look eslewhere. Adam1553552670
Re-listed with a lower reserve of $610. Looks like pretty good value.
