bornagain
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/Home-audio/Cables/auction-217193671.htm These look interesting. I wonder how many hours till they need an oil change?
little blue penguin
It is an interesting idea. Oil is used in high power transformers for cooling. I'd be worried about leaks though.

Owen Y
Some of the best sounding caps are (still) oil-filled or oil-impregnated. Esp for natural HF reproduction.
Guest
This opens up so many questions... What are the service intervals ? 10,000 or 20,000 km/hrs ? Which grade of oil sounds best ? Mineral ? Synthetic ?
dts6.1
Guess they wouldn't oxidise...
bornagain
I wonder if there is a dipstick so you can tell when they need topping up?

got tinnitus
I'd be worried they might leak and leave oil stains on the lounge floor. In a similar vein, my Nanotech cables use "nano-sized Gold Micro-particles dispersed in Deep Sea Shark oil soaked on the surface of the copper"........! Now I was, really, really tempted to respond as to where the dipstick might be, but decided not to. Was an open invitation for a shot though.
