Citroen 6,319
If the blurbs for real, couldn't he have just sent it back for a refund? Who's wife would buy a pair of these (not inexpensive headphones) not knowing the system had no headphone out, or maybe it was a strong hint that they didn't like listening to the music being played.... Cooksferry 0
Gone to a fellow forum member I see. Is the RRP over $1000 now..it used to be around the $700 mark from memory when I auditioned some.
maxgate 0
Yes, I have them (in spirit if not body) and am now on the lookout for a DAC to lift the performance of my CD player so that my head floats off into Cirrus Minor.

Still a great buy at $505. Was tempted myself but then again I'm near Dire Straits and money's too tight to mention...

Bah, Grado Vader is my master. Hmmm... I hope Maxgate has a nice headamp... be a bit hard to start up the deathstar without one.

PS Ernie. I was once enslaved by Grado Vader but now entwined mostly in the arms of Ms AT,seduced by her more delicate oriental charm.

It was only as an adolescent that I managed to act on impulse, and even then I was more likely to look (especially at my classmate Joan, the way her brown cords outlined the upper thighs and showed me the meaning of 'Mufti Day') than to act. So I bought the phones and a headamp simultaneously, albeit from different sources. It's hardly a princess; indeed, it's rather a Plain Jane: a hand-built M cubed headphone amp, currently out on loan from seller Peter Hardie to Audioenz's very own JG. It's finished in silver (rather than the black of the attached photographs) and comes with upgraded diode/24V AC supply. The typical model holds: AD8610 opamps Elna Cerafine Capacitors Slick Neutrik RCA jacks Vishay/Dale resistors Noble 24-step attenuator The amp and phones combined have cost me $1005, less than the RRP on the phones; cheap enough for me to chance it. What will they sound like? God knows but I expect He will let me find out for myself.

Here, from someone who knows more than I do, is an extensive review of the headphones/headamp combination that has made my insomnia a blessing rather than a curse: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/review-rockhopper-audio-m3-headphone-amplifier-115492/
Ernie1553552694 0
So, I'm guessing you're liking the M3/HD650 combo...
