bikecrank
I have a Rega Planar 3 (2016) with a Denon DL-301 Mk II cartridge, connected via a Lehman Audio Black Cube Statement to a Marantz SR5200 AVR, which drives a pair of Mission 737R speakers for stereo listening. I'd like to set up a stereo only system and am considering purchasing a secondhand Rega amplifier. There was an Elicit-R for sale at a great price on StereoNET recently, but I was short on funds at the time and I missed out. There is another one for sale at present, but it is not within my budget. I found a Rega Mira for sale on eBay at present (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rega-Mira-Amplifier-Amazing-sound-in-perfect-condition/113490155034). I believe it is a second generation Mira 2000, manufactured between 2000 and 2002. I would appreciate any advice on: - whether the asking price ($750) is too high (I feel it is, as a couple of Mira 3's have been advertised on StereoNET in the last couple of years for under $500 and this example doesn't include original manuals, packaging, or remote, and it appears to have been for sale for quite a while),- is the Mira 2000 a reasonable amp (I have seen comments indicating the 2000 was possibly not as good as the original (clamshell) and third generation Miras and according to the timeline on the Rega site the 2000 was only produced for two years, making me wonder if there is anything in those comments),- is there anything specific to look out for with the Mira's, and- did the Mira become the Elicit-R (there seem to be some similarities, such as the LED illumination around the volume control)? Many thanks for any advice you can offer.
Irek
Hi, both Elicit and Elex will sound 10 times better than your Marantz AVR. Never heard Mira.
