Yes, the Vinales-Rossi weekend was also bizarre. Hope the old fella goes good this season.

He'll never go bad, he is too good. Watch some of the vintage racers in their 60s, motor racing shows that knowledge and a biiiiig comfort zone, can make up alot....for reflex and flexibility.  Marquez has the lot.

But if Rossi was 22, he might play the slidey games that Marquez plays, but he has a lot of off-track reasons to not fall-off.... I won't say he can't win 2019. Let's see how things are in July, we'll have a good idea. Personally I hope the leaderboard is full of the young guns.

This is a bit off topic. Bayliss should consider retiring and let the young guys go for it! I loved his career but surely it is time to give it away.

I believe (and did at the time) that Rossi's last chance went to the wind when he clashed with Marquez in 2015.

It wont stop me being a Rossi fan, I shall leave the fair weather approach to others. :D

I agree, I would like to also see Marquez being beaten more often, he has a swag of champeenships now, move aside old guy, it's obvious you aren't bouncing as well as you used to (shoulder et al), let the next hot shot have a go.

And sadly, I don't think it will be Dovi.

Mate! He is not factory sponsored or anything. You can't find a slot for him on the starting grid ????

I think Dovi's chance  was last year, I mean he rode The Beast and manages tyres etc, but he doesn't fall off enough. The limits change all through the race  and pre-race.. I see Markie, Jack, ..umm, who else is pushing in practice.... Johan, **** what a disappointment. Or maybe carrying an injury for a long time... but Hehaw, Doctor, Dovi etc, all riding inside the limits. Dani lasted along time being ordinary, come on SUZUKI !!!

when I say Dovi doesn't fall off enough, I don't mean pusshing traction, I mean passing, attacking....

Yes he must get by with a good dose of adrenalin. Mine comes with a dash of bourbon and times gone bye bye!

I switched over to see what was going on before the F1 race, interviewing celebs on the grid, the hype was amazing and our boy Dan is undoubtedly a top fellow. The race took forever to get started and man those cars go fast.

After about four or 5 laps I remembered that no-one can pass anyone and switched it off. It is soooo boring.

Bugger, we could have caught up. Almost met @Bugs but I think he had drank three cartons the night before and was laying prostate somewhere in Animal Kingdom. :D

I met Bugs, I burnt him a CD and delivered it to him personally once I found out he was going to the Superbikes, had a cup of tea with him and his wife, lovely people they are!!

Yep, having been to both the Moto GP and the Supers last round at PI, I reckon that the Supers was a more enjoyable event, less hassle with security, easier to get a good viewing spot, no ques for the dunnies and showers. Although my wife knew of all the main contenders it the Moto Gp race, she only knew of Rea and Melendri and Bartista in the Supers race, the last two exGP riders. When 46 finally pulls the pin, will the Rossi fans follow suit, some one reckoned Vale was worth 30% of the gate.Just watched the Thai WSBK event, and Bartista has made 6 wins from 6 starts, rev limiter in Ducati's near future? Greetings to Bluesman and Darren, will definitely be at PI in Feb next year, not so sure about Oct though

Nah, they'll all start cheering for Marquez.

Speaking for myself, I was into the real racing (two wheels) when Vale was still at his MOTHERS TEET, so I can say I will certainly go on.

Reluctantly.

Sadly.

Broken hearted.

I will go on...

Besides, he will still be there somewhere. :D Managing, mentoring, whatever, the man just bloody loves it.

It's very interesting that Marquez is now already under threat, IMO. He has stopped bouncing and will start to pay for his crashes and no end of the next wave will swallow him whole if he isn't careful.

I think he will be careful and, as I have stated before, I think stage two of Marquez will have us seeing some incredible riding and more advanced racecraft. I believe Marquez can ride clean off the edges of his rubber even better than Stoner. Will this fry Dovi's brain a-la Rossi-Stoner? Time will tell.

I believe this season and maybe the next four or five to come are going to be bloody life affirming. Bring it on.

COME ON SUZUKI-RINS.

Does anyone out there watch all the practice, qualifying, warm up sessions before the race? Fortunately, I've retired so plenty of  time to indulge my obsession. It is insightful to  see all the effort the teams/riders have to do just to get the bike up near the pointy end of the grid. The race, well that makes all the work and effort justified.

I must admit that I have been known to find the practice and qualifying more interesting than the race.😎

A few years ago, I think he made some dangerous overtakes that upset everyone. He was young and deserves some forgiveness, I think his decisions have improved alot. I have become a fan, but always hoping someone will beat him, because he is that good. Markie winning is almost boring.

Good post, I do now, because I can after getting the Video Pass (MotoGP). A lot of casual watchers wouldn't see or even know of all the races before the race, so to speak. So much effort. It gives one a whole new appreciation of that first turn get off in the main race. Just so much work gone in an instant.

@Batty would you know how I can get the Speedway GP?  Prefer to be able to download rather than stream as they are often on at stupid times of the night.

Sorry, no Idea. The good thing about Kayo is that you can watch it later, we watched the Thai Superbikes race on Monday.

So maybe the do speed way. I'll check.

Looks like you are out of luck.... from their website it says selected.
