Benq W2700 / W5700 Owners Discussion Thread

Yep, its BenQ USA. However BenQ AU haven't heard about this issue. Not even the BenQ HQ which must be a pure lie. They probably think most of their customers cannot use internet, doesn't read forums, etc. Pathetic.

Thanks @Matt_Walker for quickly taking care of my issue!

Hi ecs007,

It’s good to know that your issue is being addressed.

If it is possible, could you please elaborate how the issue was handled and fixed by Matt Walker? It would help “BE AWARE” for the benefit of other Benq and would-be Benq users.

Thanks,

Sid

Sorry Sid - nothing exciting here!   :)

We are simply arranging a direct shipment from BenQ tomorrow to speed up the shipping time rather than sending it through the retailer!

A great end result to a shitty situation.

Some poor communication lead to a shitty result for a BenQ customer who will be happy again once the new unit arrives later this week ?

Hoping to ba able to start delivering the same result for more users over the coming weeks!

Cheers,

Matt

@Matt_Walker That’s great customer support from you! I hope measures will be taken to resolve the direct support comms issue with Benq. I am quite happy with the new w2700; which is my 1st PJ. I am yet to update it with any firmware socialised through this forum. So far, no issues to report!

@ecs007 please let us know how your replacement unit performs. I still have the same noisy iris issue as you with no change using the latest firmware.

We are super keen to get feedback too.

To note though - if you have a continually noisy iris that is a separate issue that we have determined a firmware update will not rectify.

We will have a fix for this shortly.  ?

Hi Matt,

Can you explain what the "fix" will be for a noisy iris? Are we getting replacement projectors?

What is the timeframe of this fix?

Nope - because I dont know - the moment I do I will share it here though  :)

Stand by - shouldnt be too long!

This is extremely disappointing news.

I know Matt that the blame can't and shouldn't be levelled at you but one has to wonder about quality control and testing and lack of it.

I was actually really looking forward to what I considered to be an affordable introduction to 4k PJs which to my mind has been a pretty poor offering given the inherent noise issue. I realise this does not apply to all of these projector's but the fact remains that the problem is not limited to a few purchasers.

Anamorphic mode is restricted to the ISF colour setting only, why is that? Can't be used on any other colour mode which is really strange.

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/68-digital-projectors-under-3-000-usd-msrp/3050402-benq-w5700-ht5550-4k-100-dci-p3-projector-announcement-ownera-s-thread.html#post58383340

I cannot fathom what has gotten into BenQ that they would place this restriction on the use of an anamorphic lens - in other words you can't have this feature in any user-configurable picture mode because...why? I have several different picture modes for various viewings; from games to TV (with some lighting on) to movies...with a fixed lens for all...but apparently I must use an ISF mode for everything if I want to use the lens.

So, does anyone have the password/key sequence for ISF mode they're willing to share? I was about to pull the trigger on this projector now that the anamorphic modes were in place - but if I do I may have to modify the ISF settings to my liking based on what I'm watching. This latest release cycle of BenQ projectors has been quite confusing.

Really??

I will get a reply on this immediately.

@oztheatre - have you confirmed this on your unit please?

Not yet, lost my usb stick doh! Tomorrow hopefully.

OK in 4K HDR mode we have locked the mode to preserve the picture.

In 4K standard or any other mode (eg. 1080p, 3D etc.) You are free to switch between all modes.

Cheers,

Matt

Ah OK.

Is it only when you engage HDR mode or all the time?

Do you have / Could you take a video of it?

This vid below shows it but that sounds like a fan blade hitting metal. My unit make a deeper grinding noise whenever the iris moves
