Manufacturers Sales Pitch:

Celebrating 20 years of Vincent!

Limited Edition Anniversary Model.

For the jubilee, we offer you a special model, the SP-20.

This is a studio hybrid power amplifier which in its base is founded on one of our most successful models, the SP-331 MK.
We have thoroughly revised the unit and optimised the circuit.

In addition, we gave it a face lift with two VU meters.
As a special feature, the colour of the background lighting of the control instruments is adjustable.

You can choose between red, blue, green and white with a switch on the backside of the unit.

The exquisite aluminium case with its impressive cooling fins hiding and indicating its great power remains unchanged.

Two 6N16 tubes work in differential push-pull mode form the input stage.

The more powerful 6N10 tube transmits the signal to the transistor output stage.

12 FET transistors amplify the signal.

The signal amplifying is supported by 8n electrolytic capacitors with 10,000 uF respectively.

These specifications deliver plentiful power when necessary and it is possible to operate even difficult to drive loudspeakers adequately.

The power amplifier presents itself in the guaranteed Vincent style.

The bass is precise and powerful whereas the mid and high signals sound musical and transparent.

Thanks to the tube, it allows a warm and clean sound to emerge from the unit.

Technical Specifications:

  • Frequency Response : 20Hz - 20 kHz +/- 0.5dB

  • Output Power RMS / 8 Ohm: 2 x 150 Watt, RMS / 4 Ohm: 2 x 250 Watt

  • Harmonic distortion: < 0.1 % (1 kHz, 1 Watt)

Hi Everyone,

Yes agreed, she's a beauty 😍

Sounds as good as she looks too.

B-Stock comes from the previous distributor of Vincent.

It could be a number of different reasons:

open box customer return,

damaged carton,

minor cosmetic blemish,

factory replaced missing parts/accessories (like a cable, foot or screw, etc)

or manufacturer refurbished to like new.

They don't specify which one though, hence the shorter warranty.

Regards,

David

Deal of the year.

If I hadn’t already spent ‘way too much’ on hifi this year, I’d be driving to Hallam right now.

This is such a no brainer. Blue VU meters would look lovely with my LS100 though...

Thanks but I don't want to make it complicated. I have had amp's ect delivered in the past without drama. Yes I know I shouldn't speak too soon but am confident with the delivery services so far. This should be double boxed I hope.

I am a vincent fan and already have a sp331(silver) which may pop up in the classifieds if I can get used to the black silver thing. I am obviously impressed with the sound and am keen to hear what this has to offer.

And to be honest at that price I don't blame you. I could not find any reviews of the amp online though, I was curious!

I was curious!

The sp331 puts out 300 watts at 4 ohm and this one only goes to 250 at 4 ohms. I presume it must be to do with the extra tube. The amp weighs in a lot heavier than the sp 331 so I am sure there are a lot of upgrades. Anyway hopefully nobody cuts my lunch and it is mine to play with. I paid full price for the sp 331 so this may make me feel good about it. Mabey I will keep both just in case.

Yeah. I think it is a brilliant feature to be able to change the colour. Will blend well with the nad m51 blue.

Ok, now that I've had my Wavebourn Edelweiss-3 for a few months and it's nicely burned in it's time for me to prepare writing my review of it which I'll post here over the coming month. I'll post my impressions and experience purchasing this wonderful amp from Anatoliy Lisovskiy, who will be releasing the production series of the Edelweiss-3 power amp, an integrated amp and separate preamp over the course of this year.

As I understand it the current production version of the power amp and integrated will all be EL34 though allow and pin compatible tube to be used right through to KT120, possibly even KT150. My own amp on the other hand uses WW2 vintage CV1127 radar sweep tubes.

The reason I initially started looking into a lower powered amp was that 6 months ago I built my first pair of DIY speakers. A pair of shallow cabinet open back speakers which share the performance characteristics of U frame open baffles. Unfortunately the copy darTZeel NHB-108B power amp I was running at the time was far too powerful making my 101db sensitive speakers too loud for regular use so I started investigating lower powered tube amps.

While looking into various solutions someone on AudioKarma pointed me in the direction of Anatoliy's Wavebourn amps and I got in touch via the Wavebourn facebook group. Over the next month or so I had an interesting discussion with Anatoliy about his amps, and their suitabillity to drive my DIY speakers (Lii Audio FAST-10 full range, Aurum Cantus G3Si ribbon, Skar Audio VX1ST bullet & Lii Audio W-15 woofer) and this led to discussions of his amps variable damping factors allowing suitabillity with a wide range of speakers. A feature which I believe may well be unique to the Wavebourn amps.

Overall details of the amp are as follows:

      Input: 0 dB (0.775V) RCA, 50K stereo.
Outputs: low ohm for 4-6 Ohm and high ohm, for 8-12 Ohm load.
Power: at least 6W for <1% total harmonic distortions.
Soft asymmetric saturation (inaudible clipping), negative output resistance for damping of woofers (servo-control of speakers).
Bandwidth: 10 Hz-90 KHz -3 dB, from 20 Hz full power.

      Tubes:

Raytheon VT127 (CV1127) radar sweep power tubes.
8CB11 driver/preamp tube (twin video pentode – filament powered from rectified DC for zero audible hum.
VR150 / Russian SG4S voltage regulator (purple glow).
VR tube and solid state MOSFET voltage regulation.  The “Edelweiss” series derives it’s name from this. A beautiful flower which grows amongst hard mountain rocks.
      Selectable speaker damping

In order to support different speaker design types such as open baffles, horns, closed and ported boxes, there’s a damping factor switch that controls output resistance of the amplifier.
Position 1 is the first on the left.
      1.       High output resistance (like pentode output with no feedback), sometimes referred to as "Current driving mode".
      2.       Similar to SET with no feedback.
      3.       SET with some feedback.
      4.       Negative output resistance for active servo-damping of woofers.

With a little experimentation I soon found that I prefer the negative output resistance setting, which is actually Anatoliy's own preference. Probably the least tube like sounding setting giving tight, accurate bass where other modes seem a bit looser. This is what I've continued to use since the first week I received the amp.

      Bought in April this year from a European authorised dealer  to power my Usher BE-10 speakers but the ushers are so efficient they don’t benefit from a lot of power these behemoth can put out and I need money for a Japan holiday. Australian retail price for these is over $20,000;

Mark Levinson No. 531H Monaural Power Amplifier

The No 531H and No532H are both true mono-block designs with independent power supplies for each channel and are rated at 300W per channel into 8 ohms. The transformers and power supply designs deliver unsurpassed dynamics and transient responses for today’s demanding audio formats and provide stability with even the most difficult to drive loudspeakers. Fully differential circuitry ensures that balanced input signals stay that way throughout the signal path and traditional Mark Levinson “Hurricane” binding posts offer secure termination to the loudspeaker.

The four amplifiers in the No500H Series are the definition of truly outstanding performance in their respective categories. Drawing from the Mark Levinson heritage, while utilizing a new, straightforward, balanced, current-feedback design creates a new series of amplifiers that must be listened to in order to be fully appreciated. The final result is impressive even for the Mark Levinson high standard of excellence.

      Main Features

•Reliable, high-power in four different channel configurations provide ideal solutions for any system
•Isolated chassis and signal grounds minimize noise, optimizing detail, even at low listening levels
•Fully-differential circuitry with both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs
•Ethernet and 12V trigger control capability for system integration

Item: Concert Fidelity ZL200 monoblocks (price reduced)
      Location: Melbourne
      Price: $8500
Item Condition: Excellent 8/10 on Audiogon scale
Reason for selling: Reconfiguration of system (for balanced operation)
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
Extra Info: purchased second hand around 5 years ago. Rarely used and always used with PS Audio conditioner. New price for these were $48,000 US ($70,000 AUD!) - very expensive (and heavy) mono blocks. You will not find any power amps of this quality near this price. This amp received the Absolute Sound 2012 Editor's Choice Award.

The unique sound of the ZL-200 is aptly described by Mr. Harry Pearson: "These monoblocks are the first solid-state amps I've heard that sound like a tubed unit, and by that I mean a very good tubed unit, on the order of say, the best conrad-johnson amp (vide, the ART III) but lacking the golden glow of the CJ sound, thus rather more uncolored than most, if not all, of the transistorized competition. It has the dynamics of good tubed unit, the focus on instruments and the sense of an ambient field that is characteristic of the old William Z. Johnson design for Audio Research.

So Im only 15 but Im getting sucked into the DIY hifi and audio stuff. I want to make a medium sized 2.0 stereo system using low end Peerless and Daichi components.
      links:
      https://www.wagneronline.com.au/daichi-1-titanium-dome-wide-frame/daichi-universal-series/daichi-universal/speaker-drivers/audio-speakers-pa/dt700-6994/3075/pd/

Is their any advice for when i eventually make these, components etc.

Im probably going to use 16mm mdf, is that thick enough??
And what size enclosure and port is suitable for these drivers??

I was thinking of making the front baffle around the same dimensions as an A4 piece of paper.

hopefully all good results, with the drivers n all but knowing me lol.

I have made other speakers before, so don't cut short on the geeky side.
