rodders3
I must be bored as working at home today to get things done while playing some tracks. I mainly listen to LP's. I just realised I do this ritual move like one of those kids playing a dance video game every time I play a record. Made me think how many buttons do I press to get sound. 1. Press Step up transformer on. 2. Press Intergrated Amp on 3. Press PSU to Phono stage on 4. Press and hold Phono for 3 secs to switch on 5. Press turntable PSU on 6. Press PSU desired speed. I must be mad. Doesn't even include the brush and oznow ritual.
Guest DarkNark
1. Switch power to power points on. I have a wall switch that disconnects all my hifi power points. 2. Switch preamp on 3. Wait a few moments switch left mono on 4. Switch right mono on 5. Switch TT psu on. Selector switch is already on 33 rpm which is what I usually play 6 Most likely adjust preamp input. Job done
Mr 57
Always had the practice of turning amp (now, mono blocks) on LAST And then turning them off FIRST. Means no switching of other gear , on or off, whilst amps are on.

Ittaku
It's not just vinyl. Ignoring how many steps there may be involved in starting the PC and music from it... Turn on USB extender (though lately I've gotten lazy and leave it on) Turn on Preamp Turn on DAC Turn on DSP Turn on left power amp Turn on right power amp +/-Turn on CD transport Turn on humidifier (yes it's an essential part of listening.) audiofeline
It's the number of buttons and selectors which need to be used on my hifi which means that MrsFeline won't touch the stereo. I don't mind sharing it with her. At least I don't have to worry about styli being damaged.
Administrator Marc Posted February 20, 2019 Administrator Share Posted February 20, 2019 How many of you have the option (and actually do) to run trigger wires? This is what I am setting up at present for this very reason.

Stereophilus
I leave my P10 on, and the 2 server boxes (CX + EX) are also left on. I run trigger wires from the Makua to the 2 Kaluga monos. The Mola Mola gear is left in standby mode as the only way to actually fully power down is to turn off the power at the wall (or via P10). So it’s 1 button on the remote to get into music. rantan
Turntable ( or less often, CD player ) on. Wait for protection circuitry light to stop flashing on amplifier, ensuring that volume control is set to zero. Cue arm onto record ( or press play on CD ) Adjust volume after cart is tracking record. Edited February 20, 2019 by rantan

Pim
You guys are so last century. 1 - Put my index finger on my MacBook Pro's finger print reader. 2 - Find music I want to play on Roon. 3 - Click play. RAAT will turn on my Devialet amps and start playing as soon as the amps are ready. 4 - Adjust volume. It sounds great but most of all, it's so easy it got the missus into playing music again.

I thank you for the compliment ( yes truly ) I buy all various vinyl albums and happily give the download card to my best mate @Grizzly ( To be fair on the bear he mainly uses vinyl and then CD. The Vimak is back baby CD s are secondary but still a viable part of my system. Music shouldn't be a license to use, but I really do like the fact that your wife finds this method as a means to hear good music more often. Anything which helps people discover their own music is very worthy.

I haven't owned vinyl since I bought a CD player on my 16th birthday but now I plat everything from a hard drive I do sometimes miss going through my CD collection to find something and then 'bumping' into some other jewel. Roon sort of does that too and it's definitely a step in the right direction again. Before Roon I was using Audirvana and I had to basically know what I wanted to play and find that song and that song only. I agree Tidal isn't the right way forward for artists but it does get me into new music. I just wish they got paid more. I'd be happy to pay more for my 'rentals'
warweary
Two systems of mine operate on pc, so they are turn pc and integrated amp on, wait for jriver to autoload then double tap whichever album I want. The third system is easy too, power on, put a cd on, hear the tunes. The car is easiest of all. Turn car on, music autostarts.
