Surround wall speakers - Paradigm options

Recommended Posts

Currently have Paradigm Designer / Signature Series Ceiling Speakers that will be converted for Atmos use. Now needing Surround Wall Speakers. Promising the following for use as 4 wall surrounds. Thoughts please?

1- Paradigm Millennia 20 LCR
2- Paradigm Monitor Surround 3's
3- Paradigm Premier 100B or 200B

Power amplifiers used will be Parasound A23's, 125w RMS at 8ohmns, and 200w RMS at 4ohmns.

1- These are slim profile, types for front LCR, i don't see any reason why they couldn't be used for surrounds?
2- Theses are surrounds are with directional drivers, which isn't ideal for ATMOS, but my room seating is not perfect, thinking the bi directional drivers might still work?
3- These Are bookshelf units, alittle deep in size, so perhaps not the best option.

Would greatly appreciate thoughts, or other suggestions. Trying to keep the rears and atmos at paradigm. 9ad0fd198433fb9abb780b1e16647028.jpg&key=992e1304caaa81e4405f98b1b3ea67e93a8b53241ce45bc9e33fdbffb260ee8c39366e2fbe4edb094e783faefced4c64.jpg&key=120997389accdda3510e420ac67ddaaa50a2ddace0c2c9bd27a1d95f0e32a5958c2e075b59e85bf53b0dd399c21ebaa9.jpg&key=1b0292d061ff49ed75ff1a749a1bae42046d8e5dfed252a97e72ee43de6bfaa5cd53869b1cb850ddd6c1ea647e9b39ab.jpg&key=e3482e33fb57d6b3cdb85bd8f8330518987781f5a9e550e63bd1749773d2f6fa539503a6bf5499ecc2290838a8292ef8.jpg&key=528c311fb7aae563b1eadddd4f1e47070eb04875995f34e6730f14f504b085708b5be8c85565b3680908a15b5657612c.jpg&key=6ec30834fa87fea78aa73120f9bc30cb8a17ceb47bbc32ecb626d2bf4f22e6feeda6ebcdfb1c632fc194ead3756d1dc2.jpg&key=9458cfa7a84666e5ee4f41bfa0baec2e649883f14eb2ca78dd11a16a023ac940

The studio range of the paradigm surrounds was better, the adp series had a 5th 7 inch bass/mid-bass driver.

I still see them come up for sale

I'm getting told to avoid multi directional types, for atmos. Thoughts?

Direct point source surrounds would be my preference, though room layout/speaker placement would be a big determining factor.

Would you consider getting another set of paradigm ceiling speakers and wall mounting them? You could build a back box for them and wall hang, or maybe inset into the wall if construction suits?

To much work, already a big job to get wiring to the speakers, gonna be exposed until i figure out way to conceal, feeling not accessible... was thinking the paradigm surround 3, or 1s, as I've not got a great positioning option due to raise ed rear floor... but these are bi directional......

whats your layout?

I've got riser for back row seating.

The side and back surrounds need separation to work well. TBH they sounded much better when I added some padded room treatment between them.

Current celing speakers marked in red, and need to install rear and side wall surrounds, so basically the rear seats are the sweet spot.. front row of seating also shown...the new surrounds will be close to rear seats, so the bi directional might suit better...d0e852b2319a56a9ddd52c5f39510a9f.jpg&key=eae72f67a435f4b89f31cdc2ee450550cfdc7c86c87fd7d2b518aa202eef6e9918dd9e68e67f387c07abc29475bcca39.jpg&key=f159d872eb216245832dbae2caa6b41dfe0c377aad5479a2bb5a09624a85fda6

The current ceiling speakers will be the atmos speakers.... using them, so i don't have to install in ceiling again. Can't get cables thru due to being under suspended slab... insulation, double layer plaster, sound mounts ..etc. the room is 5740 x 4500, feeling at the rear is 2314 under bulkhead and 2572 in middle
