Best windows software for topping d50?

Recommended Posts

My intent to use bubbleupnp server is to stream Tidal to foobar, not stream music from foobar to other dlna devices. And no matter what's done, you can always control foobar on the computer.
Ok i see. I cant seem to send anything to foobar on the pc. Im not wanting to send foobar to other devices. Really just looking for a remote for foobar on the pc. And tidal on the pc

----Edit note: after I wrote the following, I found a new Upnp server software can stream local DSD file natively, so the following is not accurate any more, please skip and move to the next post --

Just to clarify, I haven't been able to stream local DSD files natively via bubbleupnp server, so that's why I still have to use FoobarCon as remote control to play DSD files. But streaming local PCM files and Tidal are fine. Here are the steps:

1. Install bubbleupnp server (you have done that)

2. Install foobar upnp plugin (https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_upnp)

3. Through the 'Media Renderers' tap of the bubbleupnp server webpage (http://your pc's ip:58050), choose your foobar2000 renderer from the left hand side list, then and check the 'Create an OpenHome renderer' check box from the right hand side panel.

Then you should able to find the 'foobar2000 renderer' in any OpenHome upnp controller apps. I use 'Lumin' and 'Linn Kazoo' as they are available in both iOS and Android, free and have pretty nice UI. For Lumin, here is the instruction of how to use the app and connecting to Tidal : http://www.luminmusic.com/support-app.html.

By the way, if you need just one app can control playing both local DSD files and Tidal, maybe you should look into SqueezeServer/Player solution, especially the Picoreplayer (https://picoreplayer.org), one raspberryPi will do all the work. The only downside is it can't read SACD ISO files.

Updated steps:

1. Install bubbleupnp server (you have done that)

2. Install foobar upnp plugin (https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_upnp), but the 'Upnp Media Sever' is not required and can't stopped via foobar menu.

3. Through the 'Media Renderers' tab of the bubbleupnp server webpage (http://your pc's ip:58050), choose your foobar2000 renderer from the left hand side list, then check the 'Create an OpenHome renderer' check box from the right hand side panel.

4.Download and install Minimserver (https://minimserver.com), and configure the content directory.

Then you should able to find the 'MinimSever' library and 'foobar2000 renderer' in any OpenHome upnp controller apps. I use 'Lumin' and 'Linn Kazoo' as they are available in both iOS and Android, free and have pretty nice UI. After about an hour of frustration i got everything working perfectly thanks to you.
I can not say thankyou enough!!!!
Linn kazoo seems to be working better than lumin on android.
I owe you.
To think people are paying $500 for roon when just a little tinker will give you the exact same thing. This is working fantastic now. I am going to try and set it up with all upnp devices in my house.
Absolute legend!!!

Any chance you have figured out how to remove the foobar media server option in linn kazoo? That is the only thing confusing my family. I just want the minim option and the tidal option. Thank you again so much! This is so awesome!

Good to hear you work it out, and to stop the foobar media server, you can do it via foobar menu -> Library -> Stop UPnP Media Server:

Cool. I also found it in the kazoo settings. You can just untick all the servers you dont need

Something strange just happened. Im not sure if it is the minim server or kazoo or both but everything has disappeared from kazoo and lumin. Even tidal? And the option for qobuz.
Was working fine this morning.. :(

Now you can see the value of Roon 😁.

Put jokes aside, some trouble shooting tips:

1. Check if minimserver is working - from the PC's notification area, you should see the minimserver icon, if it's green, it's running, otherwise not

2. Check the bubbleUPnP server, try if you can access the webpage

I guess either of these two is down.

In the Kazzo settings, all the servers are marked "unavailable", means the Kazzo lost connection to those servers.

Have you tried another device?

or from the phone running Kazoo, use a web browser to test the minimserver connectivity via putting in the following URL:

http://the ip of minimserver PC:9790

Yeh all is good in the backend. Not really sure what happened. Its all back to normal now. If it keeps happening i will try and find a more stable solution for the same setup. I wonder how linux would deal with all these. I have a tv tuner backend installed on a linux machine and its never skipped a beat
