I see a pattern here...

Aged 18 I passed on this (not my actual bike, but identical, except I crashed mine on L's and it never looked as pretty again) -

didn't get my car license until I was 21 in this (mum's car, the piccy is a stock photo) -

didn't buy a car until I was 29, by then my Alfa was rusty and had done 130,000kms.  -

This
was the first car I bought, I bought it in 1983, was supposed to do a driver training course in the Army, but it never happened, I got to drive it once before it was caught in a garage fire and lost.

My first car and the car used for my driving test was an

EH Holden Premier - With ROH mags & slightly tweaked engine 😜

Just like the photo / same colour with leather seats

I passed my first test at Raymond Terrace Newcastle

However the tester did not give me the licence because the test was 2.5 weeks short of Christmas ( wanted me to stay alive during the mad time )

So had to go back after the prescribed time to test again then got my P licence

Got my Ls in similar to this at 17. Not a bad first car really '89 Nissan Pulsar. After growing up on farms and having paddock bashers and racing motorbikes from age 4 it was a good thing I had a FWD car. _DSC0875.jpeg.33d50686fc52fc11e554959ab3b0b640.jpeg

This is a pic of my actual bike a '98 Yamaha WR400F. Did my test at 20 I think. Ridiculous 2 day course where on the first day you had to be full clothed including helmet etc (in summer) and push each other around an obstacle course in a carpark. The second day you were allowed to start the bike.

I learnt to drive in an FB Holden wagon. (this is not the actual car, but it was the same colour as this, minus the venetians)

I passed my driving test in an RAA Holden Kingswood in 1972 when I was 16. (not sure if this is the exact model, but it was this body style, used by the RAA so painted yellow)

And the first car I owned was a 1961 Vauxhall Victor! (this is obviously not the actual car, but it is the same model. Mine was two tone blue)

Car license in one of these and then motorcycle license in one of these.

Yes, I had some fun as a youth, albeit I was poor for many years  as was compelled to modify everything......... dang, still doing it:emot-bang:.

Did my car/truck licence on one of these back in my home country of Switzerland.

I did my apprenticeship on trucks so I was able to do my driving test on such and the car licence was just a matter of an extra payment.

My motorbike licence was done on one of these........

The open licence came curtesy of a borrowed Suzuki DR 600 as I wrote off my GSX-R 750 on the day before the Test.

A tragedy!

BMW 1602.  That's precisely the car I passed my first test on - in 1966 - in Vancouver (Canada).  My old man did have at least some taste, that was his car.  I have driven faster and much more luxurious cars since.  Have I driven a better handling car?  Well, there was a 981 series Cayman S.  Apart from that, I don't think so.
