Pick up pt lincoln tv from cowell repeater

Recommended Posts

Hi

just a quick question, what antenna would you use to pick up the pt lincoln tv from cowell in moonta and can you use a splitter backwards to combine them.

thinking of either hills tsf2851 or ultimax 36 or the match master equivalent, which antenna of the 2 would you use. How high would you need it? About same as the pirie one?

Tried a hills tsp2851 once which is the smaller one in moonta and got the pt lincoln tv from cowell and reception was watchable only on some channels but broke up, but it was only roof level

so if you used a bit bigger antenna and had it about 1.5m above roof it’d be ok would it with a masthead amp?

apparently people have had success picking up pt lincoln from cowell in moonta and wallaroo

also wondered if the phased uhf antenna facing adelaide and a masthead amp is ok to pick up community ch33 in copper coast as also managed to pickup that channel in moonta once in a shed with a old antenna and then in a house in same property and the antenna on house wasn’t even facing the right way.

thanks

Don't know your area but some thoughts:

  • Because you may not being using any test equipment. One way to ascertain signal & quality levels are good enough is to run the antenna direct to one TV only, not through any splitter which reduces the levels. If the channels stay stable then a masthead or distribution amp will be required for more than one TV point. If the channels still break up then the antenna &/or position/ height will require adjusting.
  • With the antennas - my preference is Phased Array ones with 4G filters similar to the the Hills Trumax.
  • You may of already done this but Check out the myswitch website to ascertain whether the tower transmission is vertical or Horizontal & match the antenna accordingly.
  • In terms of you other queries regarding stacking antennas - Not sure
