AKM new Verita AK4499EQ dac

Recommended Posts

These two below are capacitor coupled, which is not my preference, that's why I like the AD844 stacked

But if you don't mind capacitor coupling

This Joko Homo's simple discrete I/V stages.

And the bottom pdf one is Nelson Pass's

How much distortion do you want? Both of these will have -huge- amounts of distortion when used with this DAC.

Ref previous post WRT current swing and OP Z of DAC

The AK4499 has -124dB distortion at 0dBFS. I'd like to at least try and make an I-V that didn't compromise

that in a huge way.

Both of these were highly regarded with 1-3mA output dacs

If you want less distortion but highly complex this one is also dc coupled.

Can be setup for numerous input configurations, se or balanced output

I installed quite a few of these on many cdp's and dacs, together with it's (hot) shunt regulated supply, very nice sounding I/V and output stage, all dc coupled with dc servo

I also just start to designing this R2R DAC, too

Nice work.

BTW this is not an R2R DAC, it's DS DAC.

I had a brief look at your design, I think generally it will be super challenging to get the

specced performance. What are you planning forI-V?

Good luck with project.

Hi'

AK4499EQ datasheet called R-2R DAC. This's my typical I/V, 1CH from AKM

Are you sure? The block diagram does not reflect this. Note the Delta-Sigma modulator:

I saw this wording of Switcged Resistor with Current Output. Maybe I'm wrong.

Definitely 100% not a R-2R DAC.

Further discussion here (Terry D is zenelectro who posted earlier in this thread) :
