So today this arrived:

Quick review:

Pro:

Super nice image quality (like really really nice), coming from a 1080p this 4K kicks ass.

HDR is nice, I'm only projecting to a 120"

Quiet fan

Cons:

No keystone correction, much mucking around with the projector mount to get it 100%

HDMI connections on the side, no rear

no paper manual, only a quick start guide

Conclusion:

I like it.  I have used the built in calibration, blacks are a bit grey so will likely get a pro in to calibrate when the lamp hits 300hours.

congrats on the new projector ! and thank goodness no keystone ! you dont want to use it in the digital mess it creates. definitely do adjustments at the mount using a good one has micro adjustment to line up to perfection :)

interesting on the side connections, no idea why sony do this.

do some basic setup yourself if can. but yeah definitely get a pro calibration to get the best out of it :)

Congratulations! I liked the image of this projector when it was demo'd to me with one of the Cinema Profiles. Enjoy!

The JVC's haven't been released to the Australian market yet.

Auto calibration does not calibrate the projector for you, it takes the settings back to the original calibrated levels if it drifts off that mark. you still need to have it calibrated.. if you choose too that is.

No comparison I would have thought maybe the n5 or n7 would be comparable.

This is the one I had my eye on, but it's more than I was really looking at paying since I need to buy an entire home theatre set up.

What's missing in the 270ES? Dynamic Iris - Lens Memory,  are those things I can live without??
