Best Confronting/Controversial Movies....

Recommended Posts

Since we had 'Best War Movies' I thought of this theme. There are a few I know but probably lots I don't. I'm thinking:

Bad Boy Bubby

Romper Stomper (Australian)

Convict (Australian)

The Silence of the Lambs

Trainspotting

A Clockwork Orange

Pulp Fiction(maybe)

I'd love some other ideas. Interesting genre. Not that I'm a sicko haha 🤪

P.S.Keep violent sex and other ones that are over the top out as Stereonet does have rules. eg. Paedophile/children/totally porn themed.

I still find it hard to watch Reservoir Dogs. I think of it as very confronting.

I know I could look up a list but I'd rather hear from ones that you've actually seen and thought were good.

Surprised you haven't seen Reservoir Dogs if you've seen Pulp Fiction? Probably first one to check out. A few more:

Possession

As discussed in the other thread Come and See (confronting)

The Hunt (subject matter) and from that perhaps..

Happiness

Lilya 4-Ever

Wasn't keen on seeing a "musical", but by the end, oh my God, I reckon I sat there for an hour afterwards in the dark.

A mate of mine used to work in a smoking paraphernalia shop in Adelaide years ago. One morning in walks David Lynch who proceeded over to the T shirt rack. After a few minutes he fronted the counter with a shirt depicting a dingo standing outside a creche cleaning his teeth with a toothpick. The caption underneath read "Tasty little critters but a bugger to peel".

I've often said that the likes of him, Richard Laymond, Dean Koontz and to an extent Stephen King would make great psycho killers. That said I really enjoy confronting movies that are downright nasty. Those that go where I wouldn't have predicted or feel comfortable with. Perhaps there's something wrong with me..

Nah it's human nature. Expands the mind. Makes you feel good in the end cause you realize you're normal haha. Stephen King is awesome.
