BATMAQN
It's probably worth pointing out that these are mono. In case someone doesn't see the sticker.

ElDuderino
http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/playing-mono-vinyl-with-a-stereo-phono-cartridge.291416/Thanks for that Lucius, yeah I read that a few weeks ago. There are definitely some conflicting opinions.Probably the main message I got from it was that if you can switch the amp to mono, you're good to go... unfortunately i don't have that option.I'd definitely be interested if I was sure to get a delicious sound... lucius72
The best would be to have a mono cartridge as it reads the information horizontally and this applies to old vinyl especially. This is because the mono cartridge reads only horizontally as it's meant for mono vinyl. The stereo cartridge would read the info both vertically (where there is no info but only noise) and horizontally and for old vinyl this would increase the surface noise due to ware and the dirt . I have the feeling that for new vinyl the surface noise would be a lot less. This is just a view based on different opinions. I think I would really like to have a mono setup with an old mono cartridge.
