Stephen Conners
My beloved NAD AV716 goes into Protect mode about a minute after switching on. Disconnected all but main speakers and still does it. Switched to an input which has nothing connected and does it still. Next step, Diagnose DSP, Caps, etc. If I can’t diagnose repair myself, I will get a pro repair. If you don’t know, these AV Receivers are amazing for stereo music. Hope she’s back to normal soon. I had a NAD 375BEE integrated stereo amp that, after 18 months from new, started intermittently going into protect mode. Sometimes I could turn it on again straight away - other times it would be out of action for a few hours. There was no repeatable pattern. The service agent could not (or so they said) reproduce the fault and the dealer even came to my house to test my cables in an effort to determine the cause. In the end they took it back and gave me a new Yamaha A-S1100. I hope you have more luck with your situation - would be interested to know the outcome.
Kaynin
Start with a hard reset, then a factory reset.
Quark
If you haven't already tried it, I'd recommend disconnecting the main speakers too - just to make sure there's not a wiring problem or shorted drivers.

Stephen Conners
Good news lads. I finally had some spare time today. i disconnected everything but the main speakers, reset to factory settings then switched on again. It went into protect mode then back to normal. So I switched off, connected tv (rca’s) and switched on again. All ok so far. Currently playing YouTube : ZZ Top with John Fogherty play Creedence best hits! Great to have my baby back!
Stephen Conners
Correction: there’s white noise on the centre channel via Dolby prologic. I’ll open her up and check for faults.
