This is an early version of the Townshend Audio Isolation Pods that were originally created as part of the Stella speaker platform ... below manufacturer website has more detail on benefits of isolation, the spring system is the same.

I rated the condition as "good" overall ... operationally it is excellent ... some slight scuffs/tarnish.
